Summary

The Senior Product Developer is responsible for driving the development of innovative and market-leading furniture products. Reporting to the Director of Product Design, this position requires a highly creative, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of high-end furniture design, materials, and production processes.

The Senior Product Developer is responsible for conceptualizing new product ideas, collaborating with design teams to create detailed designs and prototypes, and overseeing the selection of materials that meet both aesthetic and sustainability goals.

Description:
  • Drive the development of new furniture high-end product concepts, inspired by market research, customer needs, and emerging trends in design, materials, and technology
  • Lead the design process from concept to completion, working closely with fellow designers to create detailed sketches, CAD drawings, and 3D models of furniture pieces
  • Conduct thorough research to identify materials that balance durability, cost-effectiveness, and aesthetic appeal, while aligning with the company's sustainability goals.
  • Oversee the creation of prototypes, ensuring that they meet design specifications and are tested for functionality, durability, safety, and user experience
  • Evaluate prototypes through rigorous testing and review, making necessary adjustments based on performance data and leadership feedback
  • Work directly with suppliers to ensure quality control standards are adhered to, managing any issues related to production delays, material shortages, or quality discrepancies.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates for each new product, including materials, labor, and overhead, and ensure that all products are developed within the allocated budget
  • Leverage insights from market research and feedback to refine product designs and ensure relevance to target customers
  • Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and production, to ensure seamless product launches and timely delivery to market
  • Ensure that product designs align with the company's brand identity, marketing campaigns, and production capabilities, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints
  • Develop and enforce quality control standards across all product stages, from design through manufacturing, ensuring products meet or exceed company and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze product performance, consumer feedback, and sales data to recommend improvements to existing product lines
  • Lead initiatives that incorporate sustainable practices into the design and production process, such as reducing waste, utilizing recyclable materials, and improving the environmental impact of products
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Product Development, Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in furniture product development, manufacturing, or industrial design
  • Deep understanding of materials, furniture construction techniques, and finishing processes to ensure high-quality craftsmanship
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods, including walking through office, and warehouse spaces
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer work, sketching, and handling material samples
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of materials, samples, and product prototypes (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits, trade shows, and design development meetings
  • Visual acuity to assess product details, colors, and finishes accurately
  • Ability to adapt to various work environments, including office settings, and warehouses
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, or reaching to inspect products or review samples
Pay & Benefits
  • Pay range: $145,000 - $175,000 per year
