Sinto America Surface Technologies provides precision shot peening, blasting and cleaning services through its National Peening and Technical Metal Finishing divisions.

National Peening is currently seeking a Senior Process and Applications Engineer to join our Team in Statesville, NC.

What You Will Do

The Senior Process and Applications Engineer is responsible for the promotion of Business Development and New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts for Sinto Surface Technologies (SST) in North America. Senior Process and Applications Engineer is a full cycle position involving customer facing sales, job quoting, NPI, process development, training and execution of processes at the plant level. This position is best suited for a creative, resourceful, flexible, mission driven individual who will work to create new customers and increase existing customer sales. They will work with the Plant Managers to analyze cost structure and price SST programs strategically. NPI includes but is not limited to "hands on" process development, technical support for new programs involving surface modification as well as supporting lean and continuous improvement efforts. This position will work with the Plant Manager and Quality Manager at each location to ensure that all process aspects meet Customer requirements and specifications. Additionally, this position will assist in the development of the training programs as part of the process design. The Senior Process and Applications Engineer will also assist the Team in developing method and execution plans to meet safely production requirements to ensure that we achieve customer requirements for on-time delivery and quality.

Responsibilities

MR 1. Perform Sinto Surface Technologies Sales

PS . Perform the necessary activities to create new customers and increase existing customer sales.

PS . Work with the Plant Managers and QA Leaders for NPI and Business Development activity as is necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, technical/engineering support, programming and tooling support, quality procedures and training and direct customer support to ensure successful and timely NPI outcomes in accordance with Management and Strategic objectives.

PS . Work with the Applications Engineering Manager and Plant Managers to maintain a pricing strategy that maximizes gross margin contribution.

PS . Operate within budgetary guidelines.

PS . Travel as necessary to grow the surface technologies business.

PS . Work with the NP/TMF business and operations leadership and other sources to promote lead generation.

PS . Maintain communication with customers on a timely basis

MR 2. Promotes Sinto Surface Technologies Sales Program

PS . Participate in advertising and trade show activities to promote sales growth.

PS . Participate in various supplier symposiums as requested by VP of NP/TMF or other SAI Management

PS . Utilize digital sales tools applicable to sales growth

PS . Utilization and maintenance of print resources and brochures to promote sales growth.

MR 3. Create and Report periodic information as requested by VP of NP/TMF or other SAI Management

PS . Maintain records and produce necessary reports required to track performance and market activity.

PS . Participate in conference calls to discuss potential projects and sales activity.

PS . Gather necessary data to establish the effect on budget and forecast for Group.

MR 4. Work individually with each facility to grow new business opportunities.

PS . Meet with plant managers as necessary to identify new growth opportunities

PS . Assist plants in Capex inputs as it relates to overall sales growth

MR 5. Support NPI activity in North America as requested by SAI Management.

PS Work with both internal and external customers to develop surface enhancement solutions to meet their needs, timeframe and specifications.

PS Develop project plan at program start to ensure milestones are known and responsible parties are assigned.

PS Work with Plant Leadership to ensure the resources are assigned to achieve a successful outcome, People, Materials and Machinery.

PS Develop operational plan and processes for new products, including CNC / Robotic programs to facilitate the processing of components.

PS Develop, as part of the NPI or Continuous Improvement Plan, training materials and critical spares programs to ensure proper execution and a successful project outcome.

PS Working with the Manager of Applications Engineering, ensure that all commercial targets are met in terms of throughput and margin expectations.

MR 6. Safety and Quality

PS Maintain safety standard while working in shop and ensure that Safety of Team Members and Customer product are included in to the NPI process development.

PS Ensure that all process development meets or exceeds Customer quality specifications and requirements.

MR 7. Maintains Professional Relationships with External & Internal Customers

PS Maintains membership and personal participation in industry organizations.

PS Develop external customers to support local plant business levels.

PS Develop network within Sinto America to support NPI efforts.

PS Remain current on process technologies; attend seminars and classes as necessary.

MR 8. Additional Responsibilities

PS Conduct business with a high level of integrity, ethics and conduct; operate within the guidelines of all company policies and within the legal boundaries of all applicable laws.

PS Support the Company's safety and quality program

PS Ensure that all materials and data handling are ITAR/EAR compliant and meet Customer cybersecurity requirements.

What We Want From You

Bachelor's degree (B.S. /B.A.) or equivalent experience with ten (10) to fifteen (15) years related experience is preferred. Familiarity with NADCAP and AS-9000 quality standards preferred. Also, familiarity with major Aerospace and/or Medical OEM quality and engineering systems are highly desirable. Peening, blasting, metal finishing/metal polishing machining process experience preferred. SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modelling experience required. The ideal candidate will be hands on and may have maintenance, with automated PLC controls experience and be mechanically inclined. Shot Peening certification and fabrication experience would be of great value as well as proven leadership abilities in order to pull together a team to achieve a goal or objective.

TRAVEL

The position will require travel to various plant locations. Anticipated travel is 30-40% once training period and plant visits are completed.

ITAR CLAUSE

Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States and provide documentation compliant with ITAR regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, CNC/PLC programs, and operational/manufacturing instructions coupled with business software for virtual meetings, project tracking, correspondence, and memos. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Advanced mathematics including but not limited to algebra, calculus, trigonometry, and coordinate geometry. Statistical, mechanical, and financial comprehension required. Experience with applied mathematical modeling and concepts used in automotive manufacturing are preferred.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
