The Multi-domain Solutions Division (MDS) within Leidos National Security Sector is actively seeking a skilled Senior Principal Systems Administrator to join an exciting new cyber security program that plays a pivotal role in supporting critical government systems. This program will encompass the development, integration, delivery, and operations of IT managed security services, providing support to enhance the cybersecurity posture and situational awareness for the enterprise. This opportunity is in anticipation of a future contract award.

What you will be doing:
  • Ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our servers, networks, cloud environments, and enterprise applications.
  • Overseeing system architecture, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving initiatives for automation and optimization.
  • Applying extensive expertise in systems administration, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and automation while mentoring junior IT staff.
  • Designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise server environments, including Windows, Linux, and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
  • Managing and optimizing virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or cloud-based virtualization).
  • Overseeing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions to guarantee business continuity.
  • Automating system administration tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Implementing and enforcing security best practices, system hardening, and access controls.
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments, patch management, and compliance audits (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA).
  • Collaborating closely with cybersecurity teams to identify, mitigate, and respond to security threats.
  • Managing and optimizing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for enhanced performance and security.
  • Overseeing network infrastructure (firewalls, VPNs, load balancers) to ensure optimal connectivity.
  • Leading hybrid cloud integration and migration strategies.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior system administrators and IT support teams.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive IT strategies and roadmaps.
  • Evaluating emerging technologies and recommending innovative solutions to improve infrastructure efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex system and network issues in high-availability environments.
  • Monitoring system performance, analyzing trends, and implementing capacity planning strategies.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system diagrams.
What does Leidos seek from candidates?
  • An active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) with Polygraph security clearance is required. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • A Bachelor's degree with 8 to 12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6 to 10 years of relevant experience. A Doctorate in a technical domain may also be considered. Relevant experience may be counted in lieu of a degree.
It would be advantageous if you have:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
  • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), CISSP, or GIAC Certifications.

Pay Range: Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
