Job Overview:

We are seeking a senior engineer to enhance our power modelling capabilities within Central Technology. You will join the CT Power Models team, which develops models and analyzes system-level power management for future technologies. The role involves collaboration with IP teams, system architects, and product managers to capture technology trends and conduct exploratory studies, requiring a blend of technical, analytical, and communication skills.

You will explore topics such as system and IP power management, DVFS, thermal control, processing elements, and job scheduling. Your work will involve building and utilizing power models to evaluate multiple system architecture options for key use cases, helping to identify the most promising solutions.

The position is based in Cambridge (UK) within a dynamic and collaborative team.

Responsibilities:
  • Platform bring-up within the power model environment
  • Understanding and implementing power experiments within the power model environment
  • Projecting power and performance trade-offs
  • Evaluating workload sensitivity to power management and IP features, considering relevant trade-offs
  • Providing suggestions for architectural, microarchitectural, and software improvements
  • Developing and evolving the modelling environment to meet current and future needs
Required Skills and Experience:

Candidates should have knowledge and experience in several of the following areas:

  • Strong C/C programming and debugging skills
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Bash
  • Experience in power or performance modelling
Nice To Have Skills and Experience:
  • Power management and thermal modelling expertise
  • Digital hardware design experience (RTL design, synthesis, physical design)
  • Understanding of CPU microarchitecture fundamentals
