We are seeking a Senior Water Pipeline Design Engineer to lead the design and implementation of critical water pipeline replacement projects as part of a major infrastructure program for California's largest water utility. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive impactful projects from concept to completion, ensuring the safety and reliability of essential infrastructure.

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, CA (Flexible remote work, with occasional site visits)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead pipeline design and replacement projects, ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, design reviews, and develop project documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, agencies, and stakeholders to devise innovative solutions.
  • Oversee permitting processes, schedule coordination, and contractor selection.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Ensure project safety, quality control, and risk assessment compliance.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California (EIT certificate considered equivalent).
  • 10+ years of advanced engineering experience with a focus on pipeline design and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pipe materials, pressure ratings, and industry standards (AWWA, ASCE, ASTM, etc.).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoWater, Cesar, AutoPipe, and GIS mapping tools (ArcGIS).
  • Exceptional communication skills for presenting technical details to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in permitting processes, regulatory compliance, and cost assessments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Water Professional (CWP) or equivalent.
  • GIS or Asset Management Certification.
