Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Pension Consultant to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing client projects, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables, and supporting both business development and internal process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach to consulting in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This role also includes attending client meetings and playing an active part in building and maintaining strong client relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project workflows to ensure timely and efficient delivery of services.
  • Coordinate internal timelines and follow-ups to meet or exceed client deadlines.
  • Conduct thorough technical reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance of deliverables.
  • Uphold the firm's standards of quality across all client communications and reports.
  • Perform research and offer subject matter expertise on complex pension and retirement plan topics.
  • Prepare and present proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the owner to evaluate and refine internal procedures for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review actuarial valuations for multiemployer pension plans.
  • Prepare and review government filings, including annual reports and required disclosures.
  • Prepare pension benefit statements in accordance with plan provisions and regulatory requirements.
  • Review complex benefit calculations, including QDROs, required minimum distributions (RMDs), and late retirement scenarios.
  • Perform financial forecasting of a plan's funded position, including zone status projections under the Pension Protection Act.
  • Conduct actuarial modeling of plan design changes and assess their financial and compliance implications.
  • Prepare and review plan amendments, summary plan descriptions (SPDs), and plan document restatements.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of multiemployer pension plans.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a multiemployer benefits consulting environment.
  • Actuarial credentials required (ASA, FSA, or EA).
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with other professionals, including attorneys, administrators, and trustees.
  • Excellent project and operations management skills with a proven ability to manage timelines and deliverables.
  • Highly customer-service oriented, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Experience with ProVal is a plus.

Pay & Rewards:

  • Base Salary: $120,000+ (depending on experience)
  • Bonus: Discretionary, based on individual and company performance
  • 401k Plan: 401(k) Plan with matching employer contributions
  • Health Insurance: Stipend toward health insurance costs if not already covered by a spouse's or parent's plan
  • Hybrid Work Schedule: Opportunity to work from home two days per week. Please note, we are not considering 100% remote candidates.
