Key Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Litigation Support Assist attorneys with all aspects of patent litigation, including preparing pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Federal Court Docketing Manage and maintain the litigation calendar, ensuring that all deadlines, hearings, and motions are filed timely through PACER and other federal court systems.
  • Document Management Organize, review, and track patent documents and case files, ensuring all information is accurate, updated, and easily accessible for the team.
  • Trial Preparation Assist with trial preparation including creating exhibit lists, deposition designations, witness preparation, and trial exhibits. Support in organizing and managing trial exhibits and other materials.
  • Discovery & E-Discovery Manage and facilitate the discovery process, including reviewing and organizing documents, assisting with document productions, and ensuring compliance with discovery deadlines. Proficient in using e-discovery tools such as Everlaw.
  • Client & Expert Communication Coordinate with clients, experts, and vendors to gather necessary documentation, and arrange expert depositions or trial preparation.
  • Legal Research Perform legal research, including case law and patent-specific issues, to support litigation strategy and trial preparation.
  • Filing & E-Filing Prepare, file, and serve pleadings and documents with federal courts via ECF and PACER, ensuring compliance with local rules and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience Proven experience as a patent litigation paralegal and/or commercial litigation paralegal, with a strong background in managing cases in federal courts. Knowledge of patent law and procedures.
  • Technical Skills Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis, and experience with e-filing systems, particularly PACER and Everlaw.
  • Detail-Oriented Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, maintain accurate files, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Communication Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to liaise effectively with clients, attorneys, experts, and court personnel.
  • Self-Motivated A proactive team player who can manage tasks independently while being a reliable resource for the team.
