Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior UNIX/Linux Architect to lead our client's UNIX/Linux systems architecture and engineering efforts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale, enterprise-level UNIX/Linux infrastructures, with a specific focus on Oracle Linux. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal system performance, security, scalability, and compliance. This position will also involve leadership responsibilities, managing a team of engineers to drive strategic initiatives and complex system designs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and design high-performance, scalable UNIX/Linux infrastructure solutions, ensuring alignment with business and technical goals.

• Lead the end-to-end design and deployment of Oracle Linux environments, optimizing performance, security, and cost-efficiency.

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of UNIX/Linux engineers, fostering skill development and promoting best practices.

• Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, Security, and Application teams to integrate UNIX/Linux systems with the broader IT ecosystem.

• Develop and maintain standards, best practices, and policies for UNIX/Linux system architecture and operations.

• Oversee system automation initiatives leveraging tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and shell scripting, to streamline deployments and reduce operational overhead.

• Ensure high levels of system availability and disaster recovery through well-designed clustering, load balancing, and backup solutions.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to UNIX/Linux infrastructure, driving root cause analysis and preventative measures.

• Engage in capacity planning, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring of UNIX/Linux systems to ensure optimal operation.

• Stay up to date with the latest UNIX/Linux advancements and evaluate new technologies for potential integration into the environment.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, security policies, and audit requirements across all UNIX/Linux systems.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux system administration, with at least 5 years in an architect or leadership role.

• Expertise in Oracle Linux, including installation, configuration, patching, and optimization.

• Strong proficiency with other UNIX/Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, and SUSE.

• In-depth knowledge of system design, high availability architectures, clustering, and load balancing in enterprise environments.

• Extensive experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and scripting languages like Bash, Python.

• Familiarity with cloud integration, particularly with public clouds like AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and hybrid cloud deployments.

• Expertise in performance tuning, security hardening, and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, HIPAA).

• Proven experience in leading technical teams and working on large-scale projects, including vendor management and cross-department collaboration.

• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, Xen, VMware) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Strong understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers) as they relate to UNIX/Linux system design.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), or Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE).

• Experience in DevOps methodologies and integrating UNIX/Linux systems into CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) in UNIX/Linux environments.

• Strong understanding of ITIL processes and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
