Description The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is looking for a skilled Senior Operations and Maintenance Network Engineer to manage various wide area networks (WANs) and local area networks (LANs). This role is crucial in providing routing and boundary protection for our enterprise-level infrastructure across multiple classifications while acting as a subject matter expert in routing and boundary technologies across diverse vendor systems.
The responsibilities of the Senior Operations and Maintenance Network Engineer include:
- Managing Tier III Operations & Maintenance of Juniper and Cisco routers, focusing on advanced troubleshooting at both layer 2 and layer 3 levels and implementing essential routing changes.
- Troubleshooting connectivity issues, latency problems, and asymmetric routing to maintain optimal network performance.
- Implementing routing enhancements and troubleshooting using vital protocols: OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VRFs, and VPNs.
- Facilitating technical exchange meetings to resolve issues with ISPs and application owners effectively.
- Conducting root cause analysis of recurring issues as part of problem management support.
- Providing daily O&M support for incident management events and addressing outages promptly.
- Collaborating with IT teams on projects and strategic initiatives to enhance network operations.
- Working closely with technical support teams to resolve network traffic concerns efficiently.
- Utilizing monitoring tools and log collectors for in-depth analysis of traffic anomalies and troubleshooting efforts.
- Be available for on-call support after hours on a rotational basis to ensure continuous network availability.
- Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), and Forcepoint firewall equipment is a plus, though not mandatory.
Basic Requirements - Required Clearance: TS/SCI with active Polygraph.
- Candidates should possess 16 years of experience, which can be a combination of work history and education (Doctorate with 8 years, Master's with 10 years, Bachelor's with 12 years, Associate's with 14 years, or HS diploma with 16 years).
- Must comply with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 standards.
- Solid experience in configuring and troubleshooting Juniper and Cisco routers and switches.
- Proficient in protocols like OSPF, BGP, VPNs, VRFs, and MPLS.
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, Internet Protocol (IP) subnets, Network Address Translation (NAT), and relevant security technologies.
- Proven ability to engineer and modify rulesets for new customer connectivity requirements.
- Ability to read, understand, and develop schematic diagrams and technical documentation to ensure equipment and software can be maintained with minimal training.
- Familiarity with Service Now or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Desired Qualifications: - Project Management Professional Certification is preferred.

Pay Range: Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
