SMX is seeking a driven and customer-focused Senior OpenShift Engineer , to join our thriving Cloud Services business unit and work with some of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the market. This individual will bring a passion for technology, a strong technical skill set, and proven experience migrating customer systems to public cloud. This is a remote position supporting a Massachusetts based team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work effectively within a delivery-centric professional services organization

• Navigate client-facing challenges and work in tandem with other vendors

• Support execution activities across the full project lifecycle, from planning, through implementation, to operational readiness

• Lead technical discussions both internally and with customer or vendor teams

• Focus on cloud-native services and optimizing the customer landscape through adoption of these services

• Define and engineer solution capabilities that satisfy a customer's goals and meet service delivery objectives

• Install and configure any specific product components per solution requirements

• Produce high-quality, well-written technical documentation, including design plans, implementation diagrams, data flow mappings, and as-built documents

• Take ownership of solutions, assignments, actions items and issues, and remain accountable for their completion

• Work effectively with other team members, customers and key stakeholders and foster team success

• Provide transparent and regular status updates in requested format

• Be willing to learn, collaborate, contribute and improve

• Achieve and maintain AWS or other cloud certification levels at least annually

Required Skills & Experience :

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 5+ years of experience in a role that encompasses both data center infrastructure and systems engineering. An additional 4 years of experience may substitute in lieu of the degree requirement

• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift containerized platforms, specifically

o Designed OpenShift solutions for AWS deployment

o Experience using the command line OC Admin tools for RHEL experience

o Hands on experience managing, creating scripts and deploying OpenShift clusters

o Experience upgrading OpenShift clusters and supporting deployed clusters

• Excellent customer service skills and the calm professional demeanor necessary to bolster customer confidence when stress is highest.

• Extensive experience with Windows and UNIX/Linux system administration - administration within virtualized environments is preferred.

• Extensive experience with networking, and storage components (e.g. Operating systems / virtual machines, TCP-IP / DNS, Block / File / Object storage, etc.).

• Extensive experience with IaC/CloudFormation and familiarity with continuous integration services and support tools - e.g.: CodePipeline, CodeBuild

• Knowledge of and experience with AWS Services; EC2, VPC, ELB, AWS Security, S3, RDS, EBS, ECS

• Knowledge of and experience with monitoring, metrics collection, and reporting tools.

• Experience with large enterprise applications

Desired Skills & Experience

• Basic knowledge of database management systems

• Familiarity with continuous integration services and supporting tools- e.g.: CodePipeline, Jenkins

• Proven ability to document, promote and present your work to other teams and to customers

• Willingness and ability to collaborate across internal practices and with other team members

• Ability to work within an organized and structured delivery-centric team

• Ability to translate customer requirements and needs into proven design patterns

The proposed salary for this position is:

$148,100-$231,400 USD
