The Senior Neurodiagnostic Technologist, under general supervision, will participate as an integral member of the Neurodiagnostic Services by performing routine and complex EEGs, Video EEG in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Long Term (EEG) monitoring, Evoked Potentials (EPs) and other specialized procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including nursing floors, intensive care units, operating room and other specialized locations. These tests record the electrical activity in the brain and nervous system. The Senior Neurodiagnostic Technologist will ensure electrode and technical integrity and quality of all Neurodiagnostic procedures performed. Accurate results provide the physician with valuable information to diagnose and treat neurological conditions/disorders such as headaches, seizures, strokes, and degenerative brain disease. The Senior Neurodiagnostic Technologist actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in-services and staff development activities.

The salary range for this position is $64.04 - $79.76 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Registered in one or more modalities. EEG and/or Evoked Potential Technologist (R. EEGT./R. EPT.), CLTM, CNIM
  • At least two years of experience as an EEG Technologist
  • Demonstrated competency in performing complex EEGs as well as in one or more modalities such as EP, LTM, EMU etc.
  • At least two years' experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience with diagnostic medical equipment
  • Possession of a high school diploma
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skill in dealing with patients, family, caregivers, physicians, and clinical staff
  • Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and online communication
  • Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills
  • Knowledge and practice of electrical safety relevant to Neurodiagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work variable shifts
  • Demonstrates ability to be an independent, motivated self-starter
  • This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics is highly preferred
  • Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary health provider team
  • Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment

License/Certification

  • Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) or Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (R.EPT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
