Leidos is looking for an experienced Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide integral support to NASA's Integrated Operations Center (NIOC). This SME will act as a Tier 3 support specialist, providing advanced technical expertise and leadership on the NIOC operations floor. The ideal candidate will play a key role in networking, telephony, and operator training, ensuring effective communication with NASA leadership.
Key Responsibilities: - Serve as Tier 3 support for NIOC operations, diagnosing and resolving complex issues affecting communications systems and networks.
- Manage networking systems with extensive experience in Juniper and Cisco technologies.
- Support and maintain essential telephony infrastructure for NASA's communication systems.
- Train and mentor operators to ensure proficiency in operational processes and technical systems.
- Communicate with NASA leadership, providing updates, recommendations, and insights to align communication operations with organizational goals.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and optimization of communication and networking systems to improve reliability and performance.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies in networking and communications to sustain system excellence.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- A minimum of 8 years of networking experience, specializing in Juniper and Cisco Systems.
- Capable of quickly understanding and responding to complex dataflow issues.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP technologies, including IP addressing and subnet masking.
- Experience troubleshooting network issues in both LAN and large WAN environments, including firewalls and network taps.
- Proficient with networking troubleshooting tools such as BERTS, iPerf, and Wireshark.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Exceptional writing and oral communication skills.
- Strong understanding of telephony systems and communication infrastructure.
- Proven expertise providing Tier 3 support in complex technical environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate with NASA leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated capability in training and mentoring personnel in technical and operational contexts.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible for a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in government or aerospace settings, particularly with NASA systems.
- Networking certifications, such as Juniper or Cisco CCNA/CCNP.
- Familiarity with operational support procedures in high-stakes mission environments.
