Join Leidos as a Senior Network Operations Engineer to make a significant impact on a high-profile DOD contract. The I3TS program delivers enterprise-wide IT support, enabling DTRA's Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to transform and continuously enhance IT services for mission partners across various locations.

As a Senior Network Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and modernizing our infrastructure. This position includes defining technical requirements, conducting feasibility studies, managing pilot projects, and implementing plans while effectively diagnosing and resolving outages. Your expertise will be key in monitoring networks, infrastructure, and systems, and in developing proactive strategies to mitigate issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate Tier I-III network operations engineering staff to optimize troubleshooting efforts.
  • Oversee real-time monitoring of global enterprise networks using approved tools like SolarWinds and Splunk.
  • Establish and enforce operational procedures and incident response workflows.
  • Act as the senior technical point of contact for significant outages and cybersecurity incidents.
  • Collaborate with mission partners and commands regarding network status and operational impact.
  • Ensure network changes comply with configuration management and advisory board procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver operational briefs and executive summaries to senior leadership.
  • Plan and design secure network solutions that support connectivity services on an enterprise level.
  • Create secure WAN connectivity solutions, supporting mission requirements and ensuring quality of service.
  • Provide secure access solutions using both wired and wireless technology, integrating relevant standards.
  • Incorporate capacity planning and scaling into network and security environment designs.
  • Analyze data to identify network optimization strategies that meet performance standards.
  • Review and design strategies for legacy service paths to support security and maintainability.
  • Support the development of IP addressing schemes for IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD standards alongside information assurance teams.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 8-12 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of experience.
  • Require a network certification that meets or exceeds CCNA standards.
  • Active DoD IAT Level II certification, or equivalent, required prior to start date.
  • Must possess a current DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience documenting designs using tools such as Visio or PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable with technical troubleshooting to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience conducting site surveys and analyzing collected data.
  • Experience in migrating networks, services, or data between environments or to cloud providers.
  • Broad exposure to IT infrastructure networking, including LAN, WAN, and firewalls.
  • Experience working with vendor technologies like Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing network infrastructure with accompanying documentation.
  • Strong team collaboration skills in troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting SOPs and technical documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership on significant project matters.
  • Experience presenting designs and plans for approval from technical leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with enterprise network management tools such as SolarWinds or JIRA.
  • Hands-on experience with network infrastructure, telecommunications, and delivery platforms.
  • Expertise in designing and enhancing complex enterprise networks.
  • Deep understanding of DoD security requirements for network infrastructure.
  • Experience implementing security measures like DoD STIG.
  • Familiarity with reporting and business applications such as Power BI or SQL.
Pay Range: Pay range is $89,700.00 - $162,150.00. Please note this range is a general guideline, and factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, and internal equity will be considered in extending an offer.
