We are on the lookout for an exceptionally skilled and motivated Network Engineer III to bolster the Advanced Enterprise Global Information Technology Solutions (AEGIS) program. As part of a large Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing and maintaining the NASA OCIO Enterprise Corporate network.

Your responsibilities will include designing, configuring, and troubleshooting the NASA enterprise network infrastructure, with a primary focus on Wi-Fi technologies. You will apply your expertise in RF principles, wireless protocols, and Cisco wireless solutions, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security for our customers.

You will utilize tools such as Cisco Catalyst Center for network management, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for access control, and Splunk for network logging and analysis. An understanding of network technologies and security protocols is essential. Your role will support the NASA Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), ensuring its efficiency, security, and continuous availability. This position is hybrid; however, to meet customer expectations, you will need to be within a 50-mile commuting distance to any NASA facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of various Catalyst-based wireless architectures, including FlexConnect, Bridge Mode, and Fabric Enabled Wireless (SD-Access Wireless).
  • Design scalable and secure wireless network solutions that address NASA's evolving requirements, collaborating with stakeholders across multiple network areas for project alignment.
  • Leverage Ekahau software to create predictive models and heatmaps for wireless network optimization.
  • Identify optimal access point placements and RF coverage requirements for diverse settings such as offices, conference rooms, and outdoor areas.
  • Manage and configure Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for consistent enforcement of network access control policies.
  • Troubleshoot network incidents and provide timely resolutions to minimize service disruptions.
  • Utilize Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC) for managing network configurations, inventory, and performance.
  • Create custom Splunk dashboards and alerts to monitor network incidents, performance, and security events.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, including network configurations, processes, troubleshooting guides, and incident resolutions.
  • Advise and collaborate with government customers, technicians, and fellow engineers to implement network design changes and resolve customer-impacting events.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or a related field.
  • 10 to 15 years of combined experience in WLAN and LAN for large enterprise networks.
  • Professional knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies, including the 802.11 standard series.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco wireless infrastructure, such as access points and wireless LAN controllers.
  • Proficiency in conducting site surveys and creating/updating Wireless RF designs with tools like Ekahau or similar software.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of LAN technologies, including PoE standards and topologies.
  • Understanding of Cisco routing and switching, multicast, and QoS.
  • Experience with Quality of Service (QoS) deployment in wireless scenarios.
  • Familiarity with NAC implementations using dot1x for wired and wireless environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Relevant certifications such as CWNA, CWDP, CWSP, CWNE, CCNP Enterprise (Wireless Design/Implementation), or CCIE Enterprise Wireless.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a minimum of a Public Trust clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with fabric wireless (SD-Access Wireless).
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for access control and network security.
  • Familiarity with Splunk for network log management, analysis, and dashboard/report creation.
  • Advanced understanding of networking protocols such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, QoS, and IPSec.
  • Strong analytical abilities to diagnose and troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, providing mentorship to other network engineers.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN solutions and network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Solid grasp of RF principles and wireless technologies.
  • Additional certifications in Security and Routing/Switching are advantageous.

Pay Range: $112,450.00 - $203,275.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline, not a guarantee of compensation. Additional factors include the responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity.
