The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is excited to announce an opening for a
Senior Network Engineer (Enterprise Networks). This position supports our government customer's global enterprise networks, offering a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that is modernizing network components and enhancing service delivery in a mission-focused environment.
As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in the complete overhaul of a global enterprise network, providing design, engineering, and transition services for a diverse range of customer network requirements. This role represents a unique opportunity to contribute to the construction and transition of essential operations to a modern service provider network architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate customer requirements into actionable designs using standard design methodologies. Ensure comprehensive documentation, including diagrams, bills of materials, cabling sheets, configurations, and other supporting documents.
- Utilize our private test lab to assess new technologies and capabilities, test proposed changes to production networks, and create troubleshooting scenarios to enhance production enterprise networks.
- Plan maintenance windows efficiently to migrate user connections from Legacy systems to modern infrastructures while minimizing disruption to critical data flows.
- Offer technical guidance to Operations engineers and technicians, assisting in fault isolation and resolution, and drive innovative, scalable solutions for complex problems.
- Create secure network designs and configurations that comply with Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and enterprise policies, and manage the Authority to Operate (ATO) process for new devices, software, and capabilities.
- Supervise, but do not manage, other network support specialists in planning, coordinating, and implementing network services.
- Enhance design products, processes, and systems to improve team efficiency and effectiveness.
- This position focuses primarily on Campus Area Network (CAN) and Local Area Network (LAN), but offers opportunities to learn and work with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs).
Basic Qualifications: - Required Clearance: TS/SCI with active Poly.
- A total of 16 years of experience in network engineering is required, which can be a combination of work history and education. This can include a doctorate with 8 years of experience, a master's degree with 10 years, a bachelor's degree with 12 years, an associate's degree with 14 years, or a high school diploma with 16 years.
- Must comply with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 (Security+ CE).
- Experience in Tier III or higher network operations and/or network design and implementation.
- Previous responsibilities involving the hardware configurations of production networks for Cisco, Brocade, and/or Juniper.
- Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting standard routing protocols in a production network, such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) or Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
- Hands-on experience with standard switching and trunking protocols in a production environment, including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), 802.1q, and port-channels.
Desired Qualifications: - Expertise in network engineering and design specific to CAN/LAN, demonstrating knowledge of industry standards and the integration of solutions into production environments.
- Experience with MPLS WANs, network management tools, and firewalls.
- Advanced knowledge of routing and switching protocols, with a focus on BGP experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent knowledge.
- Ability to work independently within a network engineering team, with experience in establishing processes, developing documentation, and maintaining organized repositories.

Pay Range: $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
