Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Security Engineer to join our team on a contract basis for a year. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience and possess expertise close to the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) level. This role involves working within the Insurance sector, where a deep understanding of change management in a 24x7 production operations environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Infrastructure Management:
- Manage and maintain Cisco routing and switching equipment to ensure optimal network performance.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Implement and enforce security processes and practices across the network.
- Monitoring and Alerting:
- Develop and maintain monitoring systems to promptly identify and address network issues.
- Implement alerting mechanisms to ensure timely response to network incidents.
- Network Build and Installation:
- Participate in network build projects, including racking and installation of network equipment.
- Ensure all installations adhere to best practices and company standards.
- Design and Documentation:
- Assist in network design activities, providing input and recommendations based on best practices.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Change Management:
- Work within established change management protocols to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions to production operations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on security.
- Proficiency at a level close to CCNP certification from Cisco.
- Extensive experience with Cisco routing and switching.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Proven experience in implementing and managing security processes and practices.
- Expertise in monitoring and alerting tools and methodologies.
- Experience in network build projects, including racking and installation.
- Solid understanding of change management within 24x7 production operations.
- Excellent design and documentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications or training in network security and management.
- Certifications in Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience with Cisco to Palo Alto implementations.
