Senior Network Engineer- The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure, scalable, and highly available enterprise network environment. This role requires in-depth expertise in Cisco networking systems, network security, cloud networking, and advanced troubleshooting. The Senior Network Engineer will play a critical role in supporting disaster recovery, audit and compliance initiatives, and enterprise network architecture strategy while ensuring network performance, security, and reliability.
Responsibilities: - Network Architecture & Design
- Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud networking solutions.
- Develop and maintain network roadmaps and architecture diagrams, ensuring scalability and future growth.
- Evaluate, design, and implement network segmentation strategies to enhance security and performance.
- Define and enforce network performance baselines and proactive monitoring strategies.
- Network Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain firewall policies, VPNs, and secure remote access solutions.
- Conduct network security assessments, audits, and penetration test remediation.
- Ensure compliance with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).
- Collaborate with InfoSec teams to enhance security posture, including zero-trust architecture.
- Support and optimize hybrid cloud network integrations (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Network Performance & Troubleshooting
- Monitor and analyze network performance, capacity planning, and incident response.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and problem management for complex network issues.
- Utilize network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Cisco, Wireshark) to optimize performance.
- Support disaster recovery initiatives from a networking perspective, ensuring business continuity.
- Strategic Planning & Leadership
- Lead network upgrades, migrations, and refresh projects while minimizing downtime.
- Provide technical leadership for junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and make strategic recommendations for network enhancements.
- Act as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for network-related initiatives, audits, and security assessments.
Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering and architecture.
- Strong background in Cisco networking solutions (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless).
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SD-WAN implementations.
Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in Cisco networking (Catalyst, Nexus, ASA, Firepower, ISE).
- Strong knowledge of network security principles, VPNs, firewalls, and access controls.
- Proficiency in network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
- Experience with network monitoring and performance analysis tools.
- Understanding of zero-trust security models and micro-segmentation strategies.
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher (CCIE preferred).
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.
- AWS or Azure Networking Certification (AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer).
