Position Title: Senior Network Design and Implementation Engineer Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO Relocation Assistance: None available at this time Remote/Telework: NO - Not available for this position Clearance Type: DoD Secret Shift: Day shift (Mon-Fri) Travel Required: Up to 25% of the time Description of Duties: The Senior Network Design and Implementation Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
• Work in close coordination with the Cyber Infrastructure Support Lead and Global Enterprise Connectivity Lead, project managers, and other service area representatives to coordinate team network design and implementation efforts.
• Serve as a project expert and provides technical contribution to facilitate project completion in order to satisfy contractual requirements according to high-level architectural designs.
• Be responsible for conducting site surveys, installing and configuring network and boundary solutions; acting as program liaison; and assisting in data collection and validation efforts at each location.
• Mentor network engineering team members, review documentation to ensure engineering quality, and maintain responsibility for projects and tasks assigned to the team.
• Be involved in multiple projects as either the lead or solo engineer and should be able to:
• Design, configure, install, and test IT network devices and systems at MDA remote site locations.
• Support Network Design for the IT Services Team; developing and providing detailed designs with supporting implementation, test, and transition plans.
• Usher proposed system changes through the Configuration Change Management process to successful implementation for transition to the O&M RBA teams.
• Design and plan network and boundary communications systems.
• Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
• Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
• Conduct testing of network design.
• Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
• Communicate activity status through multiple venues and provide quantitative project reports to the Cyber Infrastructure Support Lead.
• Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Position may require up to 25% travel in support of MDA remote site integration activities Resumes, in month and year format, must be submitted with application in order to be considered for the position. Basic Requirements: Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 8 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 6 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 4 years of general experience; Master's degree and 2 years of general experience
• Must have 6 years of direct related experience
• Must have 2 years of experience in management or leadership roles
• Must have network technical experience with a solid understanding of Cisco internal and external routing protocols
• Must have experience with local and long-haul data transmission mediums (RS-530, T1, OC-x, etc.)
• Must have experience with multicast technologies
• Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification or higher
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance Desired Requirements:
• Have experience that includes Cisco, Palo Alto, and KG-175 TACLANE
• Have a current Cisco certification such as CCNA or CCNP
• Have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level III Certification
• Have experience performing technical validation of network designs in accordance with the industry's best practices and DoD policies and guidelines
• Have knowledge of architecture frameworks (i.e. DoDAF, TOGAF, etc.)
• Have experience in requirements development and management This position is expected to pay $127,000 - $152,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position. This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days.
