  • Work in close coordination with the Cyber Infrastructure Support Lead and Global Enterprise Connectivity Lead, project managers, and other service area representatives to coordinate team network design and implementation efforts
  • Serve as a project expert by providing technical contributions to facilitate project completion
  • Conduct site surveys, install and configure network and boundary solutions
  • Act as program liaison, assisting in data collection and validation efforts at each location
  • Mentor network engineering team members, review documentation to ensure engineering quality, and maintain responsibility for projects and tasks assigned to the team
  • Design, configure, install, and test IT network devices and systems at MDA remote site locations
  • Support Network Design for the IT Services Team by developing and providing detailed designs with supporting implementation, test, and transition plans
  • Usher proposed system changes through the Configuration Change Management process to successful implementation
  • Design and plan network and boundary communications systems
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
  • Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Conduct testing of network design
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Communicate activity status through multiple venues and provide quantitative project reports to the Cyber Infrastructure Support Lead
  • Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
  • Position may require up to 25% travel in support of MDA remote site integration activities
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering or science discipline required
  • Master's Degree in relevant engineering or science discipline may be substituted for 2 years of experience
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification or higher required
  • DoD 8570 IAT Levell III Certification preferred
Experience:
  • 6+ years of professional experience in the required task area , 2 of which must be in management or leadership roles
  • Experience with Cisco internal and external routing protocols required
  • Experience with local and long-haul data transmission mediums required
  • Experience with multicast technologies required
Preferred experience:
  • Cisco certification (CCNA or CCNP)
  • Experience with architecture frameworks (DoDAF, TOGAF, etc.) preferred
Security:
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Candidate must be in possession of a minimum DoD issued Interim Secret Clearance
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an active DoD issued Clearance at level Secret or higher
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms
  • Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
  • Adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, etc.)
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
