Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Consultant (20+ years) to lead the design of a world-class airport network. This fully remote, USA-based, 1099 contract role offers $110/hr with no travel required. The project kicks off at the end of March 2025-a bachelor's degree is required. Scope of Work for Network Consultant
1. Introduction

The objective of this engagement is to procure the services of a highly experienced independent Network Consultant to assist with defining the network architecture for a world-class airport in the Middle East and to support the full design development of its two Data Centers' network equipment.

The Consultant should ensure agnostic design to allow bids for multiple network manufacturers, compliance with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies to build a scalable, resilient, and world-class secure network infrastructure.
2. Scope of Work
A. Network Functional Overview
  • Identify Data Network key technologies and innovations
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards
  • Develop a comprehensive physical and logical network layout
  • Develop key design principles for efficiency and scalability
  • Define strategies for network scalability and high-performance
  • Develop redundancy and high-availability strategies
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans
B. Software-Defined Network (SDN) Architecture
  • Define SDN controllers and key components
  • Develop northbound and southbound API strategies
  • Develop network virtualization and overlay technologies (VXLAN, EVPN)
  • Develop strategies to optimize traffic engineering and path selection
C. Network Security Architecture
  • Develop a Zero Trust Network Security model
  • Design intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
  • Develop network firewalls (physical and virtual)
  • Develop micro-segmentation and east-west traffic controls
  • Develop SIEM solutions for advanced threat detection
  • Develop multi-factor authentication (MFA) and encryption policies
  • Develop secure VPN solutions for site-to-site and remote users
  • Develop Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) frameworks

F. Wireless Network Controllers & Access Points
  • Develop centralized wireless network management
  • Develop wireless security mechanisms (WPA3, 802.1X authentication)
  • Develop strategies to optimize edge AI workloads over wireless networks
  • Develop IoT device connectivity and security measures
G. Active-Active Data Center Operations
  • Develop geo-redundancy and load balancing
  • Develop global traffic management (GTM) solutions
  • Develop cross-site replication and synchronization strategies
H. Large-Scale Storage Architecture
  • Design high-speed storage fabrics using FC, FCoE, NVMe, SSD
  • Develop object, file, and block storage solutions
I. Backup & Disaster Recovery Strategy
  • Develop data replication and snapshot strategies
  • Develop cloud-based backup solutions
  • Develop immutable storage and ransomware protection
  • Optimize satellite backup connectivity for bandwidth and latency
  • Develop automated failover mechanisms
  • Develop self-healing network capabilities
  • Ensure data replication across multiple geographic regions
  • Balance AI workload distribution across storage infrastructure
J. Network Operations Center (NOC) & Monitoring
  • Develop real-time network performance monitoring
  • Develop AI-driven network analytics and insights
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform)
  • Develop API-driven network automation
  • Develop role-based access control (RBAC) for secure operations
  • Optimize content delivery networks (CDN)
  • Recommend predictive analytics for traffic engineering
  • Develop adaptive resource allocation strategies
  • Optimize wireless interference and network performance
3. Deliverables

The Consultant will work with other team members to develop the following deliverables:
  • Comprehensive network architecture and design documents
  • Technical specifications and system requirements
  • Security policies and compliance reports
  • High-availability and redundancy strategy documentation
  • WAN and cloud integration frameworks
  • Wireless and IoT security assessments
  • Data center network design and geo-redundancy reports
  • Backup and disaster recovery plans
  • Network operations monitoring and automation guidelines
4. Consultant Qualifications
  • Proven experience in large-scale, high-availability network design with industry-recognized advanced-level certification.
  • Expertise in SDN, security, cloud, and data center architectures
  • Experience with AI-driven network optimization and automation
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clients, technology, architecture, mechanical, electrical, and project management.
5. Project Timeline

The engagement is expected to span 6-12 months, with phased deliverables aligned with the airport's development schedule. A detailed timeline for various deliverables will be finalized in the near term.
6. Budget & Payment Terms

The Consultant shall provide hourly rates detailing expected fees for the various tasks and any reimbursable expenses for international travel if required. All payments will be based on Time and material to be approved per each task.
