Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgical Engineer to lead and execute complex engineering initiatives related to process development, prototype casting, and continuous improvement. This hands-on, strategic role will focus on driving innovation in casting technologies, supporting NADCAP and customer audits, and mentoring junior engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Plan, manage, and execute engineering projects focused on process optimization, prototype casting, and new product introductions-meeting budget and timeline targets.
- Technical Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve complex metallurgical and manufacturing challenges using data-driven analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
- Audit & Compliance: Lead or support NADCAP and customer audits, including preparation, on-site execution, and post-audit action plans.
- Process Engineering: Develop and improve manufacturing processes and techniques. Specify production equipment and interface with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Sustaining Engineering: Provide ongoing technical support for production areas. Evaluate and implement changes to improve product quality and process capability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a technical liaison among engineering, production planning, and design to drive continuous improvement.
- Innovation & R&D: Lead targeted initiatives to develop or enhance casting technologies and process methods.
- Mentorship: Train and support junior engineers and technicians to build technical capability within the team.
Additional Duties:
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and specifications.
- Participate in personnel development, including technical training programs.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Ensure compliance with corporate safety, quality, and conduct standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science & Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Experience: 5-10 years of relevant experience in metallurgical engineering, specifically in metal casting of ferrous alloys and nickel-based superalloys.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of casting processes, metallurgical testing, and inspection. Familiarity with process simulation and statistical analysis tools.
- Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite, technical modeling tools, and data analysis software.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Industry Knowledge: NADCAP requirements, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement best practices.
