We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Wealstun, a category C prison located in Wetherby.

HMP Wealstun is a male prison with a capacity for 832 inmates. We are looking for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join a team of around 12 staff members to support patients with mental health needs. The ideal candidate would have experience working in a secure environment and be able to work independently.

Hours

Working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday from 0800 to 1600, with one weekend in four.

Salary

This position is full-time, with an annual salary up to £47,466 per annum (FTE), depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Assess and manage patients' mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, managing a caseload independently, assessing physical, social, and psychological needs to develop holistic care plans.
  • Contribute to the nursing strategy and vision, providing evidence-based, personalized care based on patient feedback.
  • Deliver non-judgmental care, build therapeutic relationships, and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, adhering to policies and safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications required
  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - HCPC / NMC Registered
  • Experience working within mental health settings, with a focus on patient care and understanding
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience collaborating with other agencies in a multidisciplinary environment

Experience in hospital, community, or prison environments is desirable but not essential.
