Job Title: Senior Mechanical Estimator
Location: Surrey/London (Office-based)
Salary: £75,000 £85,000 per annum

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead the mechanical estimating function within a dynamic MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) contracting environment. This pivotal role involves managing the mechanical estimating process, overseeing an Intermediate Mechanical Estimator and a Senior Electrical Estimator, and ensuring the delivery of accurate and competitive bids for a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems across diverse projects.

  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine scope and requirements.

  • Manage and mentor the Intermediate Mechanical Estimator and collaborate closely with the Senior Electrical Estimator to ensure cohesive bid submissions.

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and assess their suitability.

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential cost overruns.

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations to gather pertinent information for accurate estimating.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, material costs, and labor rates to inform estimating practices.

  • Utilize estimating software and tools to compile and manage cost data effectively.

  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and present them to senior management for review and approval.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the building services or construction industry.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and installation methodologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members effectively.

  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field are advantageous.
