Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and coordination of HVAC systems for a variety of complex building projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, project leadership, and client-facing skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing design development, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring high-quality deliverables through all project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design of HVAC systems for diverse building types including high-rise commercial, interior renovations, data centers, and healthcare facilities.
- Conduct and review system load calculations, equipment selection, and energy modeling.
- Prepare and oversee the development of construction documents including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and coordination with other disciplines (electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural).
- Attend client meetings, coordinate with architects and consultants, and represent the firm in project discussions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Participate in construction administration activities including site visits, submittal reviews, and RFI responses.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, industry standards (ASHRAE, LEED), and project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 7+ years of HVAC systems design experience, ideally within an MEP consulting environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (not required).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required; familiarity with energy modeling tools (e.g., Trace 700, HAP) is a plus.
- Strong project management, coordination, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of building codes, mechanical systems, and sustainable design principles.
