Powerwell is a leading recruitment firm helping our clients discover top talent. We're recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Candidates must have an active Professional Engineer (PE) License as well as prior proven experience with Business Development (BD/BDM).
Job Description:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as both a technical leader and a business development driver. You will design innovative HVAC and plumbing systems, manage project teams, and play a key role in proposal development and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and oversee HVAC and plumbing systems across various project types.
- Lead multiple projects concurrently - maintaining schedules and budgets.
- Collaborate with business development and discipline leads on proposals and strategy.
- Develop project scopes, fees, and qualification-based proposals.
- Interpret and prepare mechanical drawings, sections, isometric piping plans, and materials lists.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and client-specific standards.
- Perform system calculations and modeling using industry-standard software.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, project partners, and team members.
- Support and mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Represent the firm at industry events, client meetings, and professional associations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S) in Mechanical engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical systems design, with HVAC and plumbing expertise.
- Proven business development experience - including client-facing consulting and proposal work.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Load Calculation Software.
- Familiarity with mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes.
- Strong project management capabilities and excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal support tools is a plus.
- Local authority (AHJ) knowledge and industry involvement is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Approximate Base Salary - $95K-$143K based on experience.
- Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
- Competitive end of year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance.
- Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change).
- 401(k) with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution.
