Powerwell is a leading recruitment firm helping our clients discover top talent. We're recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Candidates must have an active Professional Engineer (PE) License as well as prior proven experience with Business Development (BD/BDM).


Job Description:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as both a technical leader and a business development driver. You will design innovative HVAC and plumbing systems, manage project teams, and play a key role in proposal development and client relationship management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee HVAC and plumbing systems across various project types.
  • Lead multiple projects concurrently - maintaining schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborate with business development and discipline leads on proposals and strategy.
  • Develop project scopes, fees, and qualification-based proposals.
  • Interpret and prepare mechanical drawings, sections, isometric piping plans, and materials lists.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and client-specific standards.
  • Perform system calculations and modeling using industry-standard software.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, project partners, and team members.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, client meetings, and professional associations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S) in Mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical systems design, with HVAC and plumbing expertise.
  • Proven business development experience - including client-facing consulting and proposal work.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and Load Calculation Software.
  • Familiarity with mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes.
  • Strong project management capabilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal support tools is a plus.
  • Local authority (AHJ) knowledge and industry involvement is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Approximate Base Salary - $95K-$143K based on experience.
  • Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
  • Competitive end of year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance.
  • Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change).
  • 401(k) with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution.
