Vertical Recruitment are proud to be working with a renowned multidisciplinary consultancy operating across a wide range of sectors including education, commercial, high-end residential, retail, industrial, and leisure.

As the demand for their expertise continues to grow, we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their talented Engineering Team based at their central Manchester office. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in projects that span many sectors and environments. Building Services Engineers design, install and maintain systems that ensure buildings are safe, efficient and functional for their users.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Delivering mechanical design across all project stages, from concept through to completion and handover
  • Collaborating closely with clients, structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and in-house/external consultants
  • Attending design team and technical meetings across various project types
  • Ensuring all mechanical systems meet regulatory and health and safety standards
  • Advising clients and design teams on sustainable mechanical solutions and energy conservation
  • Producing mechanical specifications and selecting equipment tailored to each site
  • Reviewing contractors technical submissions and undertaking site inspections to monitor installation progress
  • Using industry-standard software such as Revit, IES, AutoCAD, and other mechanical simulation tools

Experience and Skills Required: To succeed in this role, you ll need to hold an accredited Building Services or Mechanical Engineering degree (or similar qualification) with significant experience in a similar consultancy role. Chartership or active progression toward chartered status with CIBSE or IMechE is desirable.
