Senior Materials Engineer - Electronics Manufacturing

We are recruiting a Senior Materials Engineer to support manufacturing operations within a multi-disciplinary laboratory environment. You'll work alongside expert engineers and technicians to solve complex technical challenges and improve manufacturing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide materials engineering support to ensure processes and components meet performance requirements

  • Conduct technical investigations using a range of failure analysis techniques

  • Interpret and resolve technical manufacturing problems

  • Perform material and assembly failure analysis, Prepare detailed technical reports for internal stakeholders

  • Manage and operate laboratory equipment (e.g. polishing/grinding tools, optical microscopes, SEM) Contribute to lab analysis with hands-on technical support

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in materials analysis within an electronic manufacturing environment

  • Skilled in micro-section analysis, light microscopy, SEM and EDX interpretation

  • Strong understanding of brazing, welding, and high-temperature joining techniques

  • Familiarity with vacuum electronic components and failure modes (preferred)

  • Knowledge of metallurgy for copper, nickel-copper alloys, steels, and braze materials

  • Adhesive selection and property analysis experience

  • Ability to assess technical drawings for manufacturing feasibility

  • Experience in both mechanical and non-destructive testing methods
