The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will be essential in the development of medical device products in a machining manufacturing environment.

Client Details

A national medical device manufacturer that continues to grow and dominate new and existing markets. They are looking to expand across the Northeast as their Massachusetts facility will be up 15% at the end of the year in revenue and continuing to add head count as they are landing massive healthcare clients every month.

Description

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Explore and implement new industry methods to ensure the latest process technologies are utilized in the production of orthopedic implants and instruments.
  • Develop or modify CNC programs, design fixtures, and create setup sheets. Specify techniques for part holding, speeds, feeds, and tooling. Validate programs before they are released for production.
  • Support machine setup and operation until the first production lot is completed and approved.
  • Identify all necessary special tooling and ensure it is ordered in a timely manner to support part production.
  • Create product and process specifications, along with other internal documentation.
  • Work towards mastering programming, operation, and setup across various machining platforms.
  • Manage tool life effectively to maximize the duration of unattended machine operations.
  • Apply effective project management skills, including scheduling, conducting meetings, and documenting minutes with action plans.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced manufacturing engineers or personnel.
  • Prepare and/or review engineering change requests; oversee the preparation and implementation of all engineering change notices and document control.
  • Participate in contract review meetings, identify drawing discrepancies, and propose design changes to enhance manufacturability.
  • Engage in new job reviews and design-for-manufacturing sessions, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvements.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean and organized.
  • Comply with company safety protocols.

Profile

The successful Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will have what follows:

  • Highly skilled in operating two or more of the following CNC machines: EDM RAM, EDM Wire, Lathe, Mill, Mill-Turn, Swiss.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD.
  • Competent in CAM programming.
  • Experienced in using calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and height gauges for dimensional inspection.
  • Strong mathematical abilities.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office and internet usage.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Strong analytical abilities with effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
