With approximately 600 employees, we manufacture both sterile and non-sterile products. Our manufacturing company operates three shifts five days a week, with additional Saturday and Sunday shifts during peak demand periods. Our multilingual production staff communicate in English, Spanish, and several other languages. NeilMed consistently invests in advanced manufacturing equipment to enhance efficiency and prepare for growth without significant increases in manpower. Our clean and safe manufacturing facility produces close to one million cases for shipment each year.
Summary of Responsibilities
NeilMed is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager of Manufacturing to join our team in Santa Rosa, CA. This role will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing. The Santa Rosa l is ISO 13485 certified and an FDA-registered over-the-counter drug and Class 1 device manufacturing facility, with a requirement for experience in similar production environments. The site currently consists of four facilities totaling 270,000 square feet, with a new facility of over 100,000 square feet under construction. Our non-Santa Rosa facilities encompass approximately 260,000 square feet, producing over 450 different SKUs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the manufacturing plant with automation and coordinate processes, including liquid filling, dry powder filling, tube filling, and canister fillings.
- Manage a manufacturing team of approximately 200 employees.
- Utilize NeilMed's customized software to schedule production work orders, issue purchase orders, and report on inventory deficits of raw materials and finished goods.
- Schedule resources and prioritize production tasks.
- Provide weekly or bi-weekly reports on unit production, efficiency, and production planning.
- Coordinate with NeilMed's other manufacturing facilities in Ontario, CA, and South Plainfield, NJ.
- Conduct functional testing for Receiving Inspection and ensure line clearance and cleaning for liquid rooms.
- Facilitate proper training and adhere to safety guidelines for gowning, masking, and glove usage.
- Follow documented procedures and execute production on work orders.
- Manage four production supervisors, and oversee employee rewards and recognition programs for the production team.
- Ensure the production of consumer products in various languages, including Spanish, British English, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, and more.
- Collaborate with temp agencies and HR to meet staffing needs.
- Ensure Documented History Records (DHRs) are completed timely and execute employee performance management for the production team.
The work schedule for this role begins at 5:15 AM and continues until 4:15 or 5 PM, averaging 10 hours per day, with occasional Saturday and Sunday shifts required. Participation in one Saturday meeting per month is expected, consistent with long-standing practices at NeilMed.
Skills/Competencies
- Experience working in an FDA-regulated manufacturing facility, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Proven ability to maintain a well-stocked raw materials inventory to mitigate supply chain issues.
- Experience collaborating closely with quality/production teams in the manufacture, assembly, and shipment of finished goods.
- Proven leadership experience in managing large manufacturing plants with automation across various filling processes.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, with the ability to provide regular reporting on production and efficiency metrics.
- Leadership experience managing a team of several hundred manufacturing staff.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment, OSHA certification, and preferably Six Sigma training.
- Strong stamina to manage multiple production lines and shifts, driving continuous improvement.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined.
- Effective production planning skills with a focus on maintaining zero out-of-stock inventory goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and a strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent work experience may be acceptable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of experience leading a manufacturing operation.
