The Opportunity

The Senior Manager, Accounting will report to the Controller and be responsible for oversight of the technical accounting and SEC Reporting group. This role provides guidance on complex accounting issues, stock-based compensation, collaborations, and other biotech-specific transactions. The position oversees the preparation of external financial filings, including 10-Ks and 10-Qs, and 8-Ks, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Avidity's strategic objectives. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams, auditors, and legal advisors, this role also monitors emerging accounting standards and drives continuous improvements in financial reporting processes to support the company's mission of delivering innovative RNA-based medicines. This role will also have oversight responsibilities related to Clinical Accounting, Consolidations, and the SOX Program. This role may assist in the development of revenue recognition and gross-to-net processes as the Company approaches commercialization.

What You Will Contribute
  • Positive leadership presence that will strategically build and prepare for commercialization
  • A deep subject matter expertise of technical accounting and SEC reporting with the ability to apply it to the biotech / pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, and the ability to lead a variety of process from end to end including communication with senior leadership
  • A relentless approach to learning with the ability to make connections among previously unrelated notions and come up with a lot of new and unique ideas
  • Proactive approach to developing, modifying, and executing company policies that have an effect on both accounting and other groups at the Company
What We Seek
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • 10+ years of combined industry experience including both gross-to-net accounting within a publicly traded company and Big 4 or other large national firm auditing
  • Commercial launch of a new drug in the biotech industry
  • Advanced working knowledge of US GAAP and a history of becoming subject matter expert in areas of oversight
  • Advanced knowledge of SOX and audit requirements
  • Proactive and strategic mindset with ability to balance solving immediate problems and making progress towards longer term strategic goals
  • Ability to evaluate system capabilities to increase efficiencies and improve processes
  • Strong communicator who can communicate effectively within a matrixed organization
What We will Provide to You:
  • The base salary range for this role is $156,750 - $173,250. The final compensation will be commensurate with such factors as relevant experience, skillset, internal equity and market factors.
