YOUR ROLE
As an IT team member, you have the crucial role to span both business and IT teams to develop, build, influence adoption, and sustain a data governance program. You will lead data governance transformation at Genworth where you will use your influencing skills to lead business and IT teams to start actively participating in the data governance program. You will lead a team of data stewards and technologists, providing comprehensive resources aligned to the responsibilities of the data governance program office, which serves as the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Genworth business and IT teams. You will expand data governance into business teams with establishment of data owners and data stewards that are part of the CoE. You will develop and implement the data governance strategy, program and frameworks that connect to Genworth's structure; data strategy; privacy, security and other policies; and legal and regulatory requirements. You will lead the implementation of the data governance platforms.
What you will be doing
- Create strategic vision and roadmap for data governance.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance program with frameworks that align with Genworth's business objectives and regulatory requirements, focusing on the adoption of single version of the truth data across business areas that address data quality, compliance, and privacy requirements.
- Lead Change Management efforts to increase the adoption of data governance policies and practices across business units. Develop training programs, communication plans, and engagement strategies to foster a culture of data stewardship in business teams.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, data owners, and key stakeholders to drive commitment and support for data governance initiatives.
- Act as a trusted advisor, helping teams understand the value of data governance and teaming the data governance program office with IT or business teams in creating highly useful data that is governed.
- Develop and oversee a data stewardship program that empowers business units to take ownership of their data assets, ensuring accountability and adherence to governance practices.
- Oversee and mentor an existing data governance team providing direction, setting clear goals, and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Ensure the team is equipped to implement governance standards effectively and drive continuous improvements in data usage, quality and governance across the organization.
- Identify and implement the need data governance system features and platforms.
- Enhance and maintain existing data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Oversee the creation of new & refinement of existing data dictionaries, data lineage documentation, data quality rules, and data stewardship roles.
- Expand utilization of processes for monitoring and improving data quality across systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and existing internal policies, managing audits and risk assessments as needed.
- Define and track key performance indicators for data governance initiatives. Communicate progress and impact to senior leadership, highlighting success and areas for improvement.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Technology or other related fields
- Severn or more years of practical experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
- Proven experience in leading change management initiatives, particularly in driving organizational adoption of new processes or frameworks.
- Demonstrated, measurable success in building data governance frameworks and executing data governance programs.
- Team leadership is both formal and informal with associate employee relations responsibilities.
- Experience Implementing technology solutions.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of business data definitions and use cases, and how data governance can improve business team productivity and results.
- Analytical mindset with problem solving abilities to address complex data and organizational challenges.
- Knowledge of analytical architecture and platforms that transform, store, and report on analytical data.
Nice to Have
- Certifications like the Data Governance Professional credential or the Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP)
- Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics or related fields
- You will lead a team of data stewards and technologists, providing comprehensive resources aligned with the responsibilities of the data governance program office, which serves as the Center of Excellence for Genworth's business and IT teams.

The base salary pay range for this role starts at a minimum rate of $ 114,800 up to the maximum of $226,900. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 15% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
