We are seeking a Senior Manager, Cost Accounting to join our Finance and Accounting team. This role will oversee the financial operations associated with the implementation of inventory ERP accounting system and commercial readiness planning initiatives, transitioning to full commercial inventory and cost of good accounting. In this role, you will develop and maintain cost information for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods across Intellia's complex commercial and clinical supply chain, acting as the Finance liaison to the Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams. As a key member of the Finance team, you will ensure the company is well-positioned for successful commercialization of multiple products while maintaining compliance with public company standards and regulatory requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cost accounting frameworks to support the launch of gene therapy products in a commercial setting.
- Establish scalable processes for tracking and managing costs with contract manufacturers (CDMOs) associated with commercial production, including bill of materials, raw materials, labor, overhead, product cost allocations, and distribution.
- Oversee all cost accounting activities, including the preparation and analysis of product costs, variances, reserves, inventory valuation, including reconciliation and reporting of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Monitor supply & demand planning, production costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide actionable insights to optimize efficiency.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of billing with various collaboration supply agreements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure cost structures align with product pricing, market strategy, and margin targets.
- Partner with FP&A to ensure up-to-date budgets and forecasts, develop internal reporting on budget vs actual results, prepare cost of goods sold (COGS) models and projections to support product profitability analysis.
- Lead and collaborate cross-functionally on the build-out of inventory accounting systems and processes.
- Work cross-functionally to implement policies and proposed accounting treatment for new business transactions.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on cost-related matters.
- Conduct inventory audits and ensure adherence to company policies and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
- Support internal and external auditors in their annual audit, quarterly review, and SOX review procedures.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and other monthly & quarterly close and SOX procedures.
- Partner with IT to optimize ERP systems for commercial manufacturing and cost tracking and assist in the identification and implementation of new systems, upgrades, and automation of inventory accounting and reporting processes.
- Lead process improvements to ensure scalability of cost accounting systems in alignment with commercial growth.
- Cross-train on different areas of accounting for others on the Finance and Accounting team to serve as a backup.

Education / Certifications
- CPA and/or MBA highly preferred.
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in cost accounting within the Biotech/Life Sciences industry or exposure through public accounting (commercial experience a plus).
- Background in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences, with experience transitioning from clinical to commercial operations.
- Experience with cost accounting in a complex supply chain environment.
