This position reports to the Head of Financial Control and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Bank's General Ledger (GL). It involves monitoring controls and attestation of the GL, reviewing outcomes and aging items based on reconciliation processes conducted by OPS, serving as the finance SPOC on various projects, and managing other financial controls. The role requires a strong understanding of the Bank's GL structure, Chart of Accounts processes, and associated risks, along with excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions.

Key Accountabilities
  • Attestation and onboarding of suspense accounts in the GL attestation module
  • End-to-end attestation process for General Ledger Ownership Data (GLOD)
  • Conduct deep dive reviews of suspense and GLOD accounts, including aging analysis, using a sample and risk-based approach
  • Ensure reconciliation processes are properly carried out by the Enterprise Reconciliation team for Nostro, billing, settlement, and other retail and card accounts
  • Manage opening and closing of suspense accounts according to business needs and annual reviews
  • Oversee creation and mapping of new account types across systems such as Cognos, Focus, Kondor, etc.
  • Perform integrity controls on the GL and conduct monthly reconciliation of Trial Balance with finance reports
  • Manage unclaimed balances process (e.g., manager cheques) in compliance with QCB regulations
  • Review and endorse inter-month debits to the Bank's Profit and Loss accounts, including reversals of interest and fees, over the management threshold, and seek CFO approval for higher amounts
  • Post FSCP and other financial control adjustments through the Bank's posting tools
Other Accountabilities
  • Ensure robust controls are in place for the financial statement closing process
  • Manage and report Finance Control KRIs related to Non-Financial Risks
  • Review accounting flows and entries for the Product Approval Document (PAD) process from a finance perspective
  • Serve as the finance SPOC for bank-wide/enterprise projects, working closely with the PMO
  • Coordinate with external auditors and serve as a point of contact for internal audit related inquiries regarding schedules and GL information
  • Act as the Financial Control coordinator for Business Continuity Management (BCM), performing test runs with Risk and IT
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in systems, processes, and practices based on best practices
  • Support cross-functional tasks, including regulatory report reviews within the Cost Control Tower
  • Provide regular updates on GL attestation and suspense account aging analyses to the Finance and Operational Risk Committees
Qualifications and Experience
  • Master's degree in Business & Finance (essential)
  • Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CPA
  • Experience with Big 4 accounting firms or banking sector finance reporting and controls
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in General Ledger tools
  • Knowledge of regulatory (QCB) requirements and financial statement reporting and controls
  • Hands-on experience in accounting and banking
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
