This position serves as a Senior Mainframe Analyst supporting the Department of Human Services (DHS). In this role you will analyze and evaluate system requirements using online and batch processing, IMS, DB2, JCL, COBOL (including Teton), Easytrieve, and various system utilities. As a system analyst, primarily for the Childcare Tracking System conducts feasibility studies, you will provide expertise to lower-level MIS staff, confer with user groups to establish MIS requirements, and ensure that user requirements are implemented. Produces the program and system specifications for complex systems and tasks which include system flowcharts, audit trails, control procedures, and coordinates the testing and implementation of these. Functions as a project leader for specific systems and tasks. Consults with users and other MIS staff regarding production and/or program problems. Participates in the coding, testing and implementation of programs while coordinating the complex development or major revision of a system project Keeps abreast of new developments in the mainframe field by Continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields. Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Application Services or a related Information Technology field. Specialized Skills Requires three (3) years of professional technical experience coordinating the testing and implementation of mainframe systems using IMS online and batch processing, JCL, COBOL, Telon, Easytrieve, DB2, MVS, TSO, ISPF, VSAM, and system utilities. Requires three (3) years of professional experience with IMS on-line maintenance, Mobius reporting, and scheduling tools in a mainframe environment. Requires three (3) years of professional experience utilizing Easytrieve as a file-building tool for designing, developing, and maintaining programs that interact with IMS Databases. Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance) Three (3) years of professional technical experience coordinating the testing and implementation of mainframe systems using IMS online and batch processing, JCL, COBOL, Telon, Easytrieve, DB2, MVS, TSO, ISPF, VSAM, and system utilities. Three (3) years of professional experience with IMS on-line maintenance, Mobius reporting, and scheduling tools in a mainframe environment. Three (3) years of professional experience utilizing Easytrieve as a file-building tool for designing, developing, and maintaining programs that interact with IMS Databases. Three (3) years of professional experience producing program and system specifications for complex systems, including the development of flowcharts, audit trails, control procedures, and coordination of testing and implementation program of these systems. Three (3) years of professional experience as a project leader in an Information Technology environment, including coordinating tasks, overseeing program development, ensuring thorough documentation, and driving successful system implementation and ongoing operations. Ability to identify and resolve production and program issues, ensuring timely problem resolution and maintaining system and database integrity. Extensive knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of conducting feasibility studies for system conversions and enhancements. Extensive knowledge of Mainframe documentation and standards. Developed verbal and written communication skills to clearly and precisely present information, along with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and other stakeholders.
