POSITION SUMMARY: The POS Sr. Logistics Specialist provides Freight Budgets, Distribution Lists, Tracking and Reconciliation for close to 1,000,000 shipments delivered annually. Daily tasks include proper routing of LTL/FTL/Parcel shipments between print locations, Project based tracking for multiple Project Managers, and Strategic planning of package/pallet sizes to provide Freight Estimates and achieve on-time delivery percentage of 98%.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Main responsibilities are to source transportation for DC, Small Package, Bulk, and Consolidation distributions.
DC Shipments
- Create freight budgets
- Recruit and Manage carrier base.
- Utilize tribal and current industry knowledge to be cognizant of head-haul/back-haul market pricing and seasonal trends to ensure we are price-competitive.
- Work with carriers on the right mix of modes (Less than TL, Truckload, Intermodal, Etc.)
- Collaborate with printers on pallet builds to maximize trailer cube opportunity.
- Execute Warehouse P.O. audits, and provide daily service reporting metrics back to the business
- Conduct Transportation bids on a project basis to foster competitive pricing
- Conduct semi-annual reviews with rostered 3PL's to review service and pricing trends
- Execute correction of errors and adherence plans for underperforming carriers.
Small Package Shipments
- Create freight budgets
- Serve in advisory role to help interpret small package "fine print" and avoid unnecessary costs if possible.
- Become an expert on Small Package contracts and Service Agreement Standards
- Contribute and assist on Small Package Bids with UPS/FEDEX
- Collaborate with internal Project Managers and Vendors to minimize shipping carton builds to avoid accessorial charges where possible.
- Create distribution lists, provide daily service reporting, audit and execute for reships or other work arounds.
- Work with accounting to complete bill audit and pay.
- Assist Director with Small Package Global Rep interface and QBR's
Consolidation Programs
- Advisory role-lead to help determine geographic location for best pricing and equipment availability options.
- Work with printers, carriers, and internal customers to help in determining the best pallet/product 'footprint' to maximize dollars and minimize damage.
- Create master consolidation pick sheets to identify the of master kit types and pull-sheet details.
- Assist in load-plan blueprint for both inbound and outbound loads. Help determine best modes of transportation. Each program is unique based on timelines, equipment availability, dock-space restrictions.
- Implement transportation bid, select carrier, and assign the program.
- Daily monitoring and service reporting through to completion.
- Maintain library of projects and maintain service level %'s by project and aggregately
- Work with Prototype and Design Manager on periphery projects providing input on cost implications
- On-site trips for management of Large DC project execution - work arounds - suggestions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Graduate
Experience: 4 years Logistics Experience
Special Skills/Qualifications: Strong Phone/Communication Skills and Advanced Excel Skills
