We're partnering with a leading engineering organization in search of a Linux Administrator with a strong background in engineering or product development environments-not corporate IT, fintech, insurance, or banking.
This role supports mission-critical systems that power electronic design automation (EDA) tools and hardware-focused engineering workflows.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Serve as the primary Linux Administrator, coordinating with senior leadership, EDA engineers, and corporate IT teams
- Manage EDA software/tool version updates, license tracking, and virtual/cloud system migrations
- Support circuit and hardware design teams, ensuring uptime and performance for engineering-specific tools and environments
- Maintain and upgrade legacy systems, handle network and remote desktop performance tuning
- Conduct security updates, backup/recovery, and hardware assessments
- Work with vendors and internal teams on bug resolution, support cases, and system documentation
- Author user guides, maintain documentation, and deliver training to engineering staff
- Partner with purchasing teams for hardware and software license procurement
What We're Looking For:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- 6+ years of relevant experience supporting engineering teams, preferably in semiconductor, hardware, or product development sectors
- Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux systems administration and shell scripting
- Proficiency in Python, Java, and C
- Strong understanding of Unix/Linux/Windows hybrid environments
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with Cadence tools (Silicon or PCB) in managed environments like Cliosoft
- Familiarity with Altium, HSPICE, Synopsys, or Siemens EDA tools
- Experience in Power and Circuit Design environments
- SUSE Linux OS familiarity
- Solid understanding of infrastructure needs in engineering R&D settings
