Description Join Leidos as a Senior System Administrator and become an integral part of our enterprise IT contract supporting the Department of Defense. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our custom DoDIIS Identity Attribute Service (DIAS) system, built on a robust Linux platform, while collaborating in a diverse team environment across various enclaves, classifications, and time zones. Your efforts will ensure that mission objectives are met and capabilities are optimized for our customers.
This position is ideal for a technical, customer-oriented individual who excels in utilizing Linux, Oracle, SQL, and Radiant Logic tools, alongside IT Service Management software such as Service Now or Remedy. A keen attention to detail is essential for accurately capturing customer inquiries. Strong oral and written communication skills are vital for effective interactions with both customers and leadership, as well as for documenting problems and their resolutions.
Key Responsibilities: - Engage with customers to address service inquiries and resolve issues.
- Oversee the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of DIAS systems, including Oracle OID, OVD, OIF, Apache, TomCat, and Radiant Logic. Distinguish between user-specific problems and enterprise-wide application/system issues.
- Manage databases, web servers, and LDAP services efficiently.
- Facilitate account management in the system to enable user authentication with external services using SQL Developer Studio, Apache Directory Studio, and Radiant Logic.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to gather data, conduct analyses, and develop solutions related to incident tickets and requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex challenges, document change requirements, and implement changes to production systems.
- Lead knowledge management efforts within the team, including coordinating training and mentoring junior staff on new capabilities.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and update Knowledge Articles (KAs) for customer and helpdesk staff use.
- Establish comprehensive availability and capacity management solutions through lessons learned.
- Manage significant projects, including server deployments, OS/software upgrades, Linux server certificate replacements, and routine patch management.
- Provide follow-up reports on technical findings, feedback, and process improvements for root cause analysis and engineering assessments.
- Support customer requirements in a 24/7 operational environment with after-hours emergency support, downtime planning, and routine maintenance scheduling.
- Mentor and train IT Operations Center (ITOC) personnel supporting 24/7 operations.
- Develop and update SOPs and monitoring documentation specifically for ITOC personnel.
Basic Qualifications: - Proven experience in Tier 2 system administration and/or Tier 3 engineering of Linux systems.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Microsoft PowerShell, Linux shell scripts, or comparable languages.
- Experience managing Oracle databases and utilizing Radiant Logic.
- Familiarity with Web Logic, TomCat, and Apache web services.
- Extensive experience in customer interaction for service inquiries and issues resolution.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities in complex environments.
- Proficient in log reviews, incident analysis, and identifying issue trends.
- Experience with server patch management processes.
- Ability to effectively prioritize time, manage incidents, and respond swiftly to mission-critical issues.
- Experience implementing patches and upgrades with minimal service disruption.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- History of collaboration within a team and contributing to process improvements.
- Familiarity with IT Service Management tools like Service Now or Remedy.
- Must meet DoDM 8140.03 (previously DoD 8570) IT System Admin Intermediate certification (Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+ CE, GSEC, or more advanced).
Preferred Qualifications: - Linux Administration Certification (e.g., Linux+, LFCS, or RHCSA).
Education: - Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 6 years; Associate's degree with 10 years; or High School Diploma with 12 years of related experience can substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
Security Clearance: - US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the government contracts.
- TS/SCI with specific Polygraph is required for this position, or TS/SCI with a willingness to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
