What You Must Have to Apply
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License in the State of California
  • 10+ years of experience in surveying, including field experience in construction, land development or related surveys.
  • At least eight years of experience as a licensed surveyor.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with related major course work may be substituted for 4 years of experience.
  • Experience at an engineering or survey firm managing projects from beginning to end, demonstrating proficiency in all phases of land surveying, including substantial and varied experience in methods, principles, laws, and practices of land surveying, with a focus on project management, planning, and client satisfaction.
  • Experience in marketing, client development, project management, and managing budgets.
  • Previous experience in team leadership and employee development.
  • Possession of valid California Driver's License and clear DMV Report.
Your Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques for surveying and mapping.
  • Expert knowledge of pertinent federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and policies.
  • Outstanding communication, written and oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make complex computations and to check plans, maps, calculations, legal descriptions, and specifications.
  • Experience in marketing, client development, project management, and managing budgets.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, word processing and spread sheet software.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and mentorship.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in marketing, client development, project management, and managing budgets.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and civil/structural, surveying software as appropriate.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and negotiating skills.
Your Job Responsibilities
  • Client development and retention.
  • Oversee the preparation of calculations, plans, maps, details and specifications.
  • Stamp and sign prepared documents as the Surveyor of Record including documents prepared by staff they are mentoring.
  • Serve as a Project Manager including preparing, overseeing preparation of estimates, scopes and client / design team communication on projects.
  • Carry out the policies, procedures, goals, and mission of the company.
  • Meet with clients, contractors, agencies, etc.
  • Responsible for Client development and retention.
  • Working on establishing agency relations and staying informed of changing agency policies, procedures and/or processes.
  • Responsible for budget control and client satisfaction.
  • Share expertise and insight with staff with the goal of enhancing professional development and personal growth.
  • Maintain internal QA/QC on other surveyor's work products.
  • Prepare and oversee preparation of calculations, plans, details, and specifications.
  • Prepare and oversee preparation of applications and documents.
  • Perform job site visits and inspections.
  • Oversee projects from start to finish.
  • Billing Manager and supervision of entry level billing managers.
  • At this position level, will be responsible for more complex projects, varying both in scope and size.
Physical Demands

Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some outdoor work is required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and/or near moving mechanical parts or in precarious positions. The employee is occasionally exposed to traffic, hazardous plants, insects, reptiles, and animals.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay Rate - $47.23 to $60.31 based on relevant experience
  • Medical Insurance - employee stipend that may cover up to 100% of premium
