RandM is looking for a team-oriented Senior Land Surveyor to join our respected market-leading Geomatics Department. As a member of the RandM team, the Senior Land Surveyor will be responsible for production of surveying and mapping projects in accordance with current standards of practice. The successful applicant will schedule, assign and supervise work of survey parties engaged in collection, processing and mapping of survey data. The Senior Land Surveyor will also provide advanced professional, technical, day-to-day support, guidance and input to staff and other team members. The successful applicant will prepare project submittals, ensure project budgets are met and review each project upon completion for quality assurance. The successful applicant will be expected to represent RandM and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities. The Senior Land Surveyor reports to the Group Manager of Land Surveying and is given sufficient authority to successfully complete assigned duties, responsibilities, goals and objectives. On Any Given Day Research boundary, ownership, land interest, control and historical survey data. Compute boundaries from existing surveys, legal descriptions and title information. Plan out survey data acquisition, including GNSS, conventional and remotely sensed data. Collect field survey data in an organized manner, in accordance with company and client specifications. Process and adjust field collected data into engineering and GIS formats. Create technically accurate, quality survey drawings, reports and documents. Collaborate with survey team members to ensure completeness and proper professional judgement. Assist with drawing and deliverable reviews. Prepare written communications and participate in client and team meetings. Conduct research and write technical portions of proposals to assist in bringing in new work. Minimum Qualifications This position requires a B.S. in Geomatics or a related field and licensure as a professional land surveyor in Alaska. The ideal candidate will have 15 or more years of surveying and mapping experience, performing research, reducing field notes, preparing base maps and performing office computations. Must have a working knowledge of survey equipment, data collectors and reduction of conventional and GPS survey data. Computer skills should include Autodesk/AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience performing projects field-to-finish is desired. Travel to remote sites for short-term projects will be required.
