Job Description:


  • The Upstream Unconventional Edge Compute Capability (ECC) team creates, sustains, and enhances an internally built IoT Edge platform called "Nextfield". This platform aims to deliver a powerful digital foundation for Unconventional drilling by enabling real-time capture of high-resolution data from any Unconventional field asset to a modern, scalable data platform in the cloud. This team works to design, develop, deliver, and scale powerful new solutions in the IoT, sensor, and cloud space via web/app/API development, edge gateway technology integration, and wireless sensor advancement. The team works closely with the Modern Data Platform, PowerBI, NextPlan, Ignition, Modern Applications teams, and various field/business operation echelons.
  • You will be responsible for working with complex systems, designing, developing, and integrating them at every stage of its life cycle. The ideal candidate can deliver mission-critical infrastructure with an eye toward reliability, optimization, and security. From day one, you'll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IoT operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Troubleshoot and support internal business clients on issue resolution in a global operations environment
  • Manage and monitor all infrastructure and system installations, including configurations, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Identify potential issues and integrate possible solutions
  • Standardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting technology
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes and implement analytics for meaningful issue resolution
  • Conduct high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other IT-related fields
  • Advanced verbal and written English skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Python (preferred), C /.NET, Ruby
  • Extensive experience with operating systems (Linux), Shell scripting, virtualization, and containerization
  • Experience building infrastructure on Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Prior work experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Experience working on teams following Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with SQL or writing SQL queries
  • Prior work experience with IoT or Edge Computing
  • Experience working with automation software (Puppet, DataDog, Ansible)
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Ping, OSI network layers)
