The State Fund Internal Audit Department (IAD) seeks a dynamic and experienced individual to join its team as a Senior Internal Audit Specialist. The Senior Internal Audit Specialist will be a data analytics subject matter expert responsible for performing complex data analysis for audit projects and/or ad hoc research assignments using business intelligence software. This position will also be responsible for leading efforts to develop, design, and execute strategies for automating the control testing for 2-3 Model Audit Rule (MAR) controls annually. Office locations may be in Pleasanton, Vacaville, or Sacramento campuses. Please see the attached Duty Statement for more details.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
• Is experienced with using business intelligence software/applications (preferably Microsoft Power BI/Power Query) to query, validate, format, and organize structured/unstructured data.
• Is highly proficient in modeling and analyzing/interpreting complex data to identify trends/patterns, issues, and opportunities for improvement within an organization.
• Is highly proficient in creating data visualizations to summarize/report on information learned through data analysis work.
• Possesses one year or more of experience performing professional auditing that includes completing a spectrum of internal audit activities, such as, Model Audit Rule (MAR) testing, operational auditing, financial statement auditing, and internal investigations as an auditor-in-charge.
• Possesses a solid understanding of insurance industry best practices, operating processes, risk and controls, and regulations.
• Has experience with insurance industry systems and procedures for underwriting, investments, billing and collections, financial systems, and claims.
• Understands the Institute of Internal Auditors' (IIA) standard practices for internal audit (Global Internal Audit Standards)
Desirable (Optional) Qualifications:
• Holds one of the following professional certifications:
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Has an advanced/graduate degree in business/accountancy or related fields (e.g., Master of Business Administration/MBA).
New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.
