POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Industrial Engineer will use skills in industrial engineering, project management, and mathematics to better understand the current processes and procedures of the plant operations and work to improve them. This role will perform hands on tasks that includes evaluation of manufacturing process flow and investigate manufacturing manpower requirements. The Senior Industrial Engineer will support the development of production layouts designed to improve productivity, reduce wastefulness in the workplace, and decrease costs.

This position will lead elemental time studies, establish standard work and assess manufacturing processes to increase operational efficiency. This role will help minimize overhead costs, compile equipment/material lists, perform cost/benefit analysis, and conduct production cost estimations before implementing new projects.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  • Champion and implement standard work across various production areas and generate process improvement projects.
  • Ensure production workstations are designed and set up to maximize high standards of safety, quality, ergonomics and productivity.
  • Perform time/motion studies on manufacturing processes. Use structured data to analyze potential opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations.
  • Support the implementation of new equipment and readiness on the shop floor.
  • Create value stream mapping as well as capacity analysis to optimize production.
  • Maximize production efficiency to improve assembly methods and processes using lean manufacturing concepts, such as 5S, Kaizen, and mistake-proofing devices (Poke-Yoke).
  • Lead the process of structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Design, develop, and support the rollout of new training tools and methodologies, including work instructions and visual aids.
  • Initiate product trials to document process requirements and provide training materials to the production team.
  • Maintain excellent communication and relationships with other departments and associates and support a high-performance, results-oriented team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience in 6S, Visual Management, Six Sigma, TPS or Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques preferred.
  • ERP or other manufacturing software experience is preferred.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
  • Ability to analyze layouts using AutoCAD preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn quickly on dedicated software platforms (general knowledge).
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other departments.
  • Advanced mathematical skill required, must be analytical.
  • Ability to validate thought process and conduct structured problem solving.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management clearly and concisely.

Travel
  • Local travel may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Working Conditions
  • The worker must be capable of working in an industrial production plant and office environment, working well with people or teams and operating safely at all times.
