Senior HVAC Controls Technician/Engineer - Factory Commissioning

As a Senior HVAC Controls Technician/Engineer, you will be responsible for factory commissioning and pre-install testing of Blue Frontier's DOAS units before they are handed over to the Field & Customer Services team for deployment. Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior HVAC Controls Technician/Engineer with expertise in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining HVAC systems and controls. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems, a background in controls and automation, and the ability to work independently or in a team while ensuring excellent customer service.
Roles and Responsibilities Required Skills & Qualifications: Education & Certifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering discipline is preferred
- Additional technical education or certifications in HVAC systems, controls, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years' of Commercial HVAC technician experience, combined with at least 3 years recent, demonstrable controls experience in BAS, BMS, DDC, VAV boxes etc.
- Required certifications: Niagara 4, Universal EPA
- Proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC electrical and mechanical systems.
- Distech Controls experience would be a "plus"
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
Experience: - Minimum 5-7 years of commercial HVAC technician experience.
- At least 3 years of recent, hands-on experience with controls systems (BAS, BMS, DDC, VAV boxes).
- Experience with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical HVAC systems.
Technical Expertise: - Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, air psychometrics, and HVAC electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, P&ID diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Familiarity with PLC-based embedded controllers (Distech, LabView, etc.).
- Experience with Modbus RTU (RS485) communication and sensor/actuator systems (pumps, blowers, dampers, temperature/relative humidity sensors).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and UL specifications
Additional Skills:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
Desired Qualifications: Additional Certifications:
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or related quality engineering certification.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Experience of CAD or SolidWorks is a plus.
