We have an immediate need for a Hardware Design Engineer with experience in analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
Waymaker Engineering is a contract engineering firm that provides engineering services for electronic product development, as well as Research and Development support. We can provide a full turnkey solution for product design, starting from concept and continuing through to schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, firmware and software development, as well as mass-production support.
The primary responsibilities of the Hardware Design Engineer will be:
- Designing digital and analog circuitry for electronic products. Our designs vary in application but have typically included aspects such as: microcontrollers, sensors, user interfaces (buttons, LCDs), wired and wireless communication (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, cellular), power supplies, battery charging, camera modules, motors, etc.
- Responsible for selecting components and managing Bill-of-Materials (BOM).
- Design for manufacturing/Design for testing (DFM/DFT).
- PCB layout, with an expert understanding of signal integrity, managing EMI/EMC, high frequency impedance controls, etc.
- Evaluating, debugging, and troubleshooting of prototypes.
- Collaborating with firmware/software engineering team for microcontroller integration.
- Collaborating with mechanical engineering team for product enclosure integration and PCB mounting.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Project management and client engagement.
- Prototype assembly (soldering, construction of test apparatuses, enclosures, etc.).
- Microcontroller firmware (C/C ) or desktop software (Java) development, depending on skillset.
An ideal candidate would have the following:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar.
- Multiple years (6+) of hands-on experience designing analog and digital circuitry and PCB layout.
- Completed multiple PCB designs.
- Expert in Altium Designer schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Expert understanding of PCB signal integrity, managing EMI/EMC, high frequency impedance controls, etc.
- Experience designing for FCC Part 15 B, U.L., and/or CE compliance.
- Experience in microcontroller firmware development (C/C ) would be a bonus.
- Local to Northwest Arkansas or Alma, AR area would be a bonus.
Priority may be given to candidates with full-time availability (40 hrs./week) and who are local to Alma, AR/Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding area, but we are open to a fully remote candidate as well. A local employee would be structured as hybrid and be on-site in Alma, AR, for two to three days per week, typically.
We are ideally looking for a full-time employee, but will also review applications from individual subcontractors or temporary employees.
