Vaco is working with an industry-leading fleet tracking and field service management SaaS provider, on a key search for their engineering team. We are actively searching for a Senior Golang Engineer to join an elite team that is the tip of the spear for all new product features with our client. In this role, you will be hands-on in leading the company's transformation towards a modern, microservice based architecture, and expertise driving transformation from monolithic architectures to microservices. Core Responsibilities:
  • Guide and participate in the implementation of APIs per specifications developed in conjunction with technical and product teams; define and implement solutions conforming to software development, stability, and reliability best practices
  • Break down complex projects into simple systems that can be effectively built and maintained by less experienced engineers
  • Play a key role in delivering the company's multi-year tech strategy and roadmap, focused on writing services with Golang, as the company continues its shift from a monolithic code base to a distributed computing and service-oriented architecture
  • Provide oversight, coaching, and guidance by participating in code and design reviews
  • Support technical innovation and lead the creation, continual refinement, and active enforcement of engineering standards
  • Be an embodiment of 'kind culture', fostering and promoting a positive environment based on empowerment, honesty, and empathy
  • Design and implementation of network-based APIs (RESTful, gRPC, GraphQL), particularly in a public cloud environment such as AWS
Position Requirements
  • 4+ years in an engineering role with deep programming focus in Golang
  • Experienced with scalable, fault tolerant, highly available, and secure implementations of RESTful APIs
  • Strong knowledge of stream-based architectures, leveraging Kafka
  • Experience containerizing and continuously deploying applications into a Kubernetes environment managed by CI pipelines and Helm charts
  • Strong knowledge of at least one database platform including performance tuning and data modeling (ex. Postgres, MSSQL, Redis, DynamoDB, MySQL) as well as modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)
  • Experience utilizing Infrastructure as code, leveraging tools like Terraform
  • Ability and experience working in a fast paced and rapidly growing environment
  • Experience using Datadog APM and distributed tracing for application monitoring (preferred)
  • Experience using EKS for monitoring and managing Kubernetes workloads (preferred)
  • Familiarity with PHP or modern frontend development frameworks such as React (preferred)
  • Experience instrumenting systems with logging, tracing and metrics (preferred)
