PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review of project drawings and specifications
Review of geologic conditions and prior subsurface information
Preparation of subsurface exploration, laboratory and engineering scopes of work and quotations
Preparation of quotation documents, qualifications documents and other engineering marketing documents
Review and visual classification of soil boring samples,
Review and interpretation of field boring logs and laboratory data
Soil characterization including strength and compressibility,
Shallow foundation design, including immediate and total settlement predictions
Deep foundation designs, including lateral loading analysis and deflection prediction,
Flexible and rigid pavement designs
Retaining wall analysis and design
Slope stability analysis and design
Characterization of sites with respect to seismic activity
Excavation bracing and shoring systems
Earth retaining structures
Shoreline stabilization and protection structures, bulkheads, and walls
Underpinning systems
Perform field testing utilizing necessary equipment and instrumentation,
Evaluation of shallow foundation sub grade conditions,
Characterization of OSHA soil types for temporary excavations
Evaluations of pavement and structure sub grades
Soil stabilization consultations
Construction materials sampling and evaluations
Preparation of field engineering reports.
Preparation of case histories and other marketing documents
Participation in professional and trade organizations
Presentations to clients and trade organizations on geotechnical engineering topics.
REQUIREMENTS
BS in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited); MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
Licensed Professional Engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience
Strong technical, communication, and leadership potential
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Flexible schedule with willingness to travel (mostly within 90 miles) and attend client events outside regular hours
Physically able to perform fieldwork (lift 50 lbs, climb, crawl, etc.)
Able to work safely on construction sites with exposure to traffic, heavy equipment, noise, and weather
Visual and auditory abilities required for reading materials and monitoring equipment
Visual accommodation necessary for reading instructions/materials necessary to perform functions of job
