Position Summary:
The Senior Fund Accountant, in our Development & Investments business line, will be responsible for the completion and maintenance of general ledgers and financials reports for joint venture and special purpose entities related to commercial real estate assets in which Foundry has an equity investment. This position will support the Development & Investments Team and related reporting and accounting for intercompany transactions and capital flows. We are looking for a professional individual who is able to lead and mentor members of the team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee the daily and monthly activities related to investment funds, and investments in real estate assets. These activities include analyzing cash flows and disbursements, preparing monthly bank statement reconciliations, prepare investment partner financial statement packages, and reviewing debt compliance reports
- The selected candidate will work with teams across the organization, including the Investment, Operations, Valuation, Tax, Investor Services, Treasury, and Capital Formation Teams, in carrying out the accounting, financial, and investor reporting responsibilities
- Have a thorough understanding of all concepts within assigned Funds' governing documents (PPM, LPAs, IMAs, etc.), and be able to articulate and apply them correctly in carrying out day-to-day management of assigned Funds
- Work with a third party administration team for reporting, operations, and financial statements, as applicable
- Review cash flow forecasts and prepare capital calls and distribution recommendations
- Prepare distribution schedules for investment partners
- Prepare capital allocation schedules (e.g., capital calls and distributions) for all partners and funds
- Review and verify wire instructions for money movement for various payments to vendors, investments, and partners
- Perform consolidation entries, calculate and verify the company's equity in earnings, and record minority interest positions in our investment subsidiaries.
- Prepare general ledger entries and perform other assigned tasks in support of the monthly financial statement close process
- Calculate and analyze debt covenants and ensure reporting schedules are in compliance and in accordance with legal documents
- Maintain organizational charts, assist with maintaining entity tax information and opening bank accounts for new entities
- Special projects as needed
Education and Experience Requested:
- Must have 3+ years previous Fund accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance strongly preferred
- Effective and self-motivated problem solver - demonstrating strong critical reasoning, analytical and detail-oriented attributes
- Must have a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Must be well organized, detail oriented, have good writing and other communication skills
- The ability to prioritize projects, workflows and schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interpret the legal documentation as it applies to maintaining partner capital accounts
