Our client provides smart building technology that delivers real-time insights to optimize indoor spaces, improve workforce productivity, predict real estate needs, and enhance operational efficiency, including reducing energy costs. Their smart building solutions include indoor air quality and comfort monitoring, high-efficiency HVAC filtration, space utilization sensors, occupancy-based building controls, and real estate performance analytics. With a secure, scalable, and easy-to-use connected platform, they empower owners, operators, and tenants to prepare their buildings for the future.

About The Role

In this role, the candidate will help to quickly expand the platform's capabilities to make customers' buildings work smarter. The team operates in a scrappy environment-when they say full stack, they mean it. On a given day, the candidate may work on brand-new customer-facing web features, optimize database queries, refine backend analytic calculations, or design IoT interfaces to device firmware.

Because the team is small, everyone wears multiple hats. This role will work directly with Product Managers, QA, DevOps, Firmware, and Customer Success to break through ambiguities and put amazing products into customers' hands. Some technologies regularly used include:
  • React
  • NextJS
  • NodeJS
  • MongoDB
  • Postgres
  • RESTful APIs
  • AWS
  • GCP
  • TimescaleDB
Responsibilities
  • Participate in all aspects of Agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Guide architecture decisions for end-to-end systems optimized for speed and scale.
  • Continually improve existing infrastructure to ensure the security and reliability customers demand.
  • Work with the customer success team and directly with customers to diagnose and solve issues.
  • Improve processes and documentation to enhance future efficiency.
About You
  • 7-9 years of experience building high-performing, modern applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical peers.
  • Proven track record of successful product delivery as part of a small team.
  • Basic knowledge of data modeling, normalization, and transformation pipelines in scaled applications.
  • Eagerness to collaborate directly with cross-functional partners and customer-facing teams.
  • Pragmatic judgment to determine when to implement a quick solution and when to invest more time in architecture.
  • A sense of ownership for the future of our clients engineering process and culture, as well as for the success of the company as a whole.
  • Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant industry experience.
About The Team

The team firmly believes in over-communicating. As a remote team, over-communication is one of their core principles. This includes asking any question, no matter how small, speaking up when there are concerns, ideas, or feedback, and documenting technical information. They also prioritize convention over configuration, keeping their stacks as similar as possible across projects. As a result, new team members can ramp up on any project quickly, and the team remains open to improving this process.

Their development life cycle is predictable and efficient, but they continuously seek improvements. They welcome new solutions, methods, and technologies as long as they contribute to achieving goals efficiently. Those who are passionate about ensuring software quality through effective automated testing and possess the required skills are encouraged to apply and contribute to the success of their cutting-edge software solutions.

Benefits:
  • Generous time-off policies and paid holidays
  • Competitive total compensation with equity
  • Health benefits (medical, dental, vision) and 401(k) program starting on day one
  • Up to 12 weeks paid parental leave
  • Monthly stipend to support home internet and cell phone for work purposes
  • Budget for WFH equipment
  • Monthly in-office lunches and happy hours
  • Learning and development support
  • Hybrid work environment with only one mandatory day (Thursday) per week in office
