We're hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a fast-moving, product-driven startup that's rebuilding smarter after a strategic reset. You'll work directly with a technical founder (prior exit under his belt), using Node.js, TypeScript, React, and GCP to architect and ship clean, scalable systems. The company is intentionally lean and not chasing complexity - think smart integrations, clear product goals, and actual ownership of your work.
This will be a 5-day onsite role in Lincoln Park, Chicago - ideal for someone who thrives in face-to-face collaboration, startup-style energy, and wants to help shape culture, not just code. Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience
- Strong with Node.js, TypeScript, and at least one frontend framework (React, Vue, React Native, etc.)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred, AWS totally fine)
- Comfort with CI/CD, Docker, and startup dev environments
- Ability to own features end-to-end - architecture, implementation, and deployment
- A self-starter who thrives with autonomy and low overhead
Desired Skills & Experience
- Previous startup experience or having been an early engineering hire
- Experience building internal tooling or backend platforms
- Strong opinions about architecture, but open to constraints
- Mentorship or light leadership experience
What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown:
- 70% hands-on engineering across the stack (Node/TypeScript, React Native, GCP)
- 30% architectural decisions, tooling, and deployment pipelines
Daily Responsibilities:
- 50% building new features and integrations
- 30% refining infra, CI/CD, and deployment flow
- 20% collaborating closely with the founder and future teammates
