Description

Leidos is seeking a skilled Senior Exchange Systems Administrator to join our team in support of a large enterprise IT contract for the Department of Defense (DOD). This position is ideal for an experienced professional specializing in administering Exchange and email retention systems in both physical and virtual server environments. You will play a critical role in diagnosing incidents and problems, developing and implementing solutions to restore service, and ensuring robust operations across our email systems.

Your responsibilities will include managing systems for email journaling, archiving, and eDiscovery across local and cloud platforms. You will analyze recurring issues to initiate preventive measures and assess the existing infrastructure for performance tuning and enhancements.

This role requires collaboration in a dynamic, multi-enclave enterprise environment where you will ensure that mission needs are met and that customer capabilities function effectively. The position may involve remote login for technical software configuration, rebooting, and other necessary remedial actions on servers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remotely log into servers to perform technical configuration and remedial actions.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, maintain, and monitor physical and virtual servers while rapidly identifying user and system-wide issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze network latency and improve end-user experience.
  • Collect data and conduct analysis to develop solutions for incident tickets requiring attention.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive management solution for availability and capacity.
  • Prepare follow-up reports detailing root cause analysis and operational assessments.
  • Support customer requirements in a 24/7 environment, including on-call support during off hours.
  • Update operational and monitoring documentation for around-the-clock personnel.
  • Manage issues related to group mailboxes and distribution lists, designating end-users as group mailbox owners.
  • Operate and manage email routing devices and services, such as McAfee and Proofpoint.
  • Perform day-to-day management of the Exchange Online system in an Office 365 hybrid/cloud setup.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain email retention systems utilizing Veritas Enterprise Vault.
  • Manage roles, user permissions, email queues, and dynamic distribution groups.
  • Automate processes through Exchange PowerShell scripting.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in handling service inquiries and problems effectively.
  • Extensive Tier 2 system administration background with proficiency in Exchange and Enterprise Vault tools.
  • Strong familiarity with Office 365 and Microsoft Exchange 2016.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Vault solutions for optimal storage management.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using Exchange PowerShell or equivalent languages.
  • Experience troubleshooting in complex environments.
  • Time management proficiency in IT service management systems, like ServiceNow.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership qualities to mentor and uplift team capabilities.
  • A track record of effective teamwork and process improvement.
  • Ability to triage incidents and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience in planning and documenting patch management and configuration updates.
  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery processes for high-availability systems.
  • Skills in reviewing logs and analyzing incidents for trend identification.
  • Familiarity with SCCM for server patch management.
  • Must meet DoDM 8140.03 certification requirements for IT System Admin Intermediate.
Education:
  • A Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, an Associate's Degree with 10+ years, or a Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience is required (12 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree).
Clearance:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
  • A TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required, or TS/SCI with a willingness to obtain and maintain a polygraph.

Pay Range: $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
